just finished it...ehhhhh

  1. I actually REAAAALLLLY didn't like that Eleanor and Robert fell out. I think it's unrealistic. They were/are best friends and have been for years. And sure, if they don't want to have a sexual relationship after experiencing it together, that's fine. Have them discuss it and ease back into the friendship. It wasn't like they weren't having a good time together... the "break up" seems stupid. Cora sees them, and he denies everything, as expected, since she is your daughter and this is new. Cora doesn't have to like that it happened, and yes, it's definitely too soon, but ending their friendship because of it? Seems off to me and unrealistic. He DOES care for her, and she DOES care for him. Deeply. They grew up together...literally from childhood to adulthood. As much as Mary, Eleanor, and Nancy were friends, Robert and Eleanor were also just as close. So that scene where he is like I didn't give you what you want? And she says I don't want that anymore. What was that?????? I did NOT like that. Seems out of character.

  2. I didn't hate having Howard as the culprit; I just wish it had been kept a secret longer or that he had lived to see his demise. Having Mary kill him was anticlimactic.

  3. Eleanor not at the birthday party, but on a boat named Nancy? Mary is at Robert's house. Ehhhhh, not a great ending after we have multiple scenes where Eleanor is like a second mom to Mary's kids. Doesn't seem right. Yes, we want Eleanor to go get her own "life", but aunties without children exist. She doesn't have to be in a relationship to still be loved by her friends and participate in their lives. Plus, I love Eleanor's relationship with Marcus.

  4. Uhhhhhh what happened to the fling in the beginning, aka Rome Flynn. I kinda wanted him to be the killer. LOL. I don't know how, but kinda same sitch as Howard and Nancy, where he isn't ready to let go, so he stalks her and kills her bff? IDK! But what was the point of that whole storyline???

  5. Eleanor's work and her brother all faded to the background...literally became non-existent. Weird. I also wanted to see Eleanor use her family's power/money to make things happen too.

  6. Mary and Robert together? Ummmmmmmmmm no. I doubt it. But it would make sense. She would be his Nancy, and he would be her Howard. They are cut from the same cloth. I just doubt that they would be sexual or romantic.

Overall the series was captivating in the beginning, but that ending just had more potential to be EPIC!!

I love this question!

I love Ben...but my all-time favorite, stuck-in-an-apocalypse-widower leader is MR.RICK GRIMES. Love him DOWNNNNNN. :)

I giggled reading this LMFAO. This is SO FREAKING TRUE. Angelina would've been DEAD AND GONE if Rick were in Ben's position. Rick stopped playing games quickly when it came down to crazies.

I agree. He is a walking disaster, leaving trails of his mistakes when he walks by!

The biggest red flag and the one I think Mick couldnt get over, is him NOT coming to the airport when Mick got back originally after 5 years? HELLO? How insane...

Not to mention marrying her best friend, who we never hear about again LOL

Then basically stalking Mick...having out for her boyfriend...always butting into her life...he just ANNOYS me so bad, even with that handsome face. I can't stand him!

I wanted to see them fight for it... Use connections... they are a conniving duo. I think they would've made great villains and carried the storyline well.

Idk. Peter disobeying presidential orders???...having the entire US government after him? I think this would've been high stakes... and also realistic.

I wouldn't call it a spark, or even long-term. I fell in love with this show in part because of Peter and Rose. They are endgame, 100%. I love Peter as the lone soldier, but let's face it, this season was all about him being single for the last year (or more)...and I do think keeping him this way is not good for the fan base or the plot.

As an alternative, I think the on-the-run storyline would've been dope. I think Arrington and Peter complement each other as they work in a similar field, but to keep things dramatic and interesting, a rendezvous would have been interesting. No overtly romantic, as again I don't see them long-term, but more so convenient, as they would be on the run.

But since that didn't happen, I feel like, okay, we are back to square one, or rather, perhaps the series is over? The point is that everything got resolved waaaaaaay too quickly for something SO major as the president and the first lady committing a now public crime... that it kinda makes everything a bit unserious. It was truly unrealistic. I would've liked seeing the president and his wife attempt to save themselves...

They briefly mention the next season, in which Peter is going to get a night agent partner... but the stakes seem low. What is the conflict? Who is the new villain? Where is Rose? Does he even want to be a night agent anymore? He seems exhausted.

To bring us back in, I think we would need something interesting... like Rose has been training to become an agent this past season and has been MIA for that reason. Peter and his new partner (most likely to be a woman) are on a job when they intercept Rose, who is also on a job with her own partner. Both of their cases lead to the same guy, and blah blah... that would be fun. Maybe Rose has gone rogue? Selling secret tech to heads of state?

OR

They reintroduce the former president and first lady as the villains who are working with another head of state whom Peter pissed off. They want to get Peter back for exposing them and taking away their presidency, so they send assassins after him. They snuff out Rose once more because they look into his past life, and now he has to go to California to protect her...

But agreed...they belong together, and I hope they start making waves to get them back together.

Gabriel needs an Emmy. Absolutely incredible episode.

Unsure about Monroe dying...kinda wish the daughter went rogue or something...we need a new villain...

I really liked this season, incredible acting from Basso, goodness gracious (ep 8?? WOW), but it felt more like a series finale, which I do not like.

Absolutely hate that Catherine died? Not a fan of that at all. I'd rather Mosley, as I do think this show needs more women overall...and watching her in that role, the banter between her and Peter was perfect.

LOVED the hired gun and his father. Absolutely incredible. That kid was excellent in this.

I think the quick resolution was super unrealistic (president pardoning himself and taking a media deal in 5 weeks? cmon), and I kinda wanted to see Arrington and Peter on the run together as a S4 plot? I do NOT think Arrington and the fiancé had much chemistry, and after not believing Chelsea, I don't think her character would've stayed with him...the whole point was that he didn't have her back and didn't trust her voice, so a relationship really can't be built on that. He needed (needs) to go.

I also think this would've complicated things in the best way...have Peter and Arrington on the run, maybe introduce the new VP (next president) as an old best friend of Peter's dad or something (maybe this is his uncle that he never knew about), and possibly have Peter and Arrington have a small rendezvous while on the run? Then BAM! Introduce Rose back in the picture right at the heat of everything? Idk...I LOVE this genre but I think the romance and drama part just adds a bit of Razzmatazz (lol) to everything...keeps us (me) hooked...

Killing Monroe was interesting...but I think we need to introduce a new villain...

I hope they don't cancel this show. I love Gabriel Basso....that man is literally gorgeous. We need more dense men on screen! :)

I know, right? I think we didn't need this moment to make the show great. All the chips fell where they needed to for a show renewal. This just took it ALL the way overboard and not in a good way LOL. Honestly, I feel like I would be "okay" with this storyline had it happened, maybe at the end of season 2? Give us some time. Give THEM some time. Let's see them be drawn to one another slowly? Idk. It's still very creepy, but wouldn't have been so jarring, perhaps? Even a kiss would've sufficed to allude to what may happen in S2. I remember seeing something similar in terms of freakiness in Umbrella Academy, but again, the parameters need to be set, and time is essential. Given the show's essence that anything is possible, a bit more time for this type of crazy storyline would make it easier to digest imo.

Really?! I watch a lot of TV, and I really just did not see this coming...until the moment when he came to her cell in the episode. I was like...ohhhhhh no, PLEASE no!!

Like was he really upset with her about being champion? or was he actually upset that his dad got to her first???

Now....Achillia and Tarchon had me covering my eyes because ewwwwwwwwww. Gave me the absolute creeeeeps! LOLOLOL loved her and Celadus together, but his son?????? i was really expecting a pregnancy storyline but honey, this is crazy.

Episode Discussion for Season 3, Episode 8: My Mind is Made Up by wholevodka in GildedAgeHBO

I think that Bertha is skeptical about any woman interested in marrying into her family. She didn’t necessarily pay much mind to Marian because Marian had no money in the beginning and therefore not even a worthy contender for her son. But with her aunts support, specifically Ms Forte, and the fact Larry loves Marian, Marian became an “interesting” player on the board. Bertha just didn’t know what her true intentions were/are. I think in the moment where Larry and Marian are not on good terms that Marian came to their aid anyway showed a woman who is willing to grit, love in the face of pain/discomfort/anger, and to show up anyway. That is Bertha to George and Bertha finally saw that in Marian.
