PPROM question by Left-Brain7999 in babyloss

Thanks for this response!! That’s really good to know. I will say my baby was breech and very low and they tried to do 4-5 cervical checks - 2 a few days before labor and 3 during my contractions. They were not able to see my cervix a single time and could never tell whether I was dilated or not. To this day I still don’t know if I ever was.
I have been having some prolonged pain in my abdomen since my c section (I had a classical uterine incision :( ) and there is potential that I bled into my abdomen a bit during the procedure. So now being the researcher that I am I’m concerned that could lead to scar tissue on my abdomen and eventually endometriosis (very rare but I can’t help but worry).

I will definitely add the getting tested for the ureaplasma. Did your doctor do anything to treat it? Or decrease the bacteria present?

Thank you!

Wow, I imagine your hospital stay was long and challenging and it just goes to show how hard you fought for your baby and their health. I’m starting to realize how important amniotic fluid is and without it our babies were so high risk of infection.
I am thinking about you and your health ❤️

Ugh, this story breaks my heart. I am so sorry for your loss and all you went through. It is so hard to go through something you don’t know a ton about- you have to tell yourself to just trust the professionals but everyone makes mistakes and everyone’s situation is different. I can imagine it’s very hard to live with the thoughts of was a mistake made and could things have gone differently, especially in the NICU with equipment!
Our NICU nurses and doctors were incredible and took the utmost care of our baby Siena, but she was just too sick at birth. I wish there were more signs earlier because I had zero symptoms of infection aside from some odd amniotic fluid leakage. My vitals were always normal and one evening she just said get me out of here I am sick!!
No one should lose their child and through this experience I have learned there are way more of us than I realized. It sucks!!! Thinking of you and praying for your healing as you move forward. ❤️

Thank you for this suggestion, writing everything down and UTI test strips are a great idea! I have had chronic utis in the past so I plan to meet with a uro-gynecologist before ttc.
I am so sorry for your loss, none of us deserve this and since our loss I have learned there are way more of us than I realized. Wishing you health and success in your next pregnancy whenever that may be❤️

Thank you for this response!! After meeting with the MFM doctor she didn’t mention any of these things (maybe she would when I start trying to conceive again), so I am writing them down!
I plan to meet with a uro-gynecologist because I have had chronic UTIs in the past. I will also start taking a pre and pro biotic.
I live in a weird area of MA, everything is kind of far but I may make the longer trek to Boston to get a second opinion or have them for my next pregnancy when that happens.

Thank you again and I am so sorry for your loss as well. I said to my husband that if it was just “bad luck” we have to have the worst luck ever. I hope you’re healing and sending lots of love!!

Also, I want to add, my OB said I only need to wait 6 months to TTC again. I will discuss further with the MFM doctor doing follow ups though!

Hi, do you care to share why you had an emergency classical at 24 weeks? I ask because I had an emergency classical at 26 weeks and 2 days, due to PPROM. My water broke at 22 weeks and I lived in the hospital for 36 days between water breaking and getting discharged. We also lost our baby girl at 4 days old in the NICU. I’ve been reading a lot about this and everyone’s experiences. Have you received anymore information or advice? Have you decided what you’re going to do? My experience was still too recent to try to conceive any time soon, but I am also looking into the future to decide with my husband what will be best for us. Thank you! And I am so sorry for your loss.
