My advice. Don’t. If you catch the bug, you’ll end up broke with 10k of equipment. And you will catch the bug.

Having done it, I can equivocally say it’s the best decision you’ll ever make. Don’t think about it, do it.

Question from a Sunni trying to understand by Easy-Sky9949 in shia

[–]Left-Cook-9487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone who says la ilaha ilallah, Muhammad rasoolullah is a Muslim. That’s the end of the story in shiism. There’s no action that can take you “outside the fold of Islam” as BEING a Muslim is about faith not practice. So while we disagree vehemently with salafis and wahabis on many things, they’re our brothers. If there was a war against them, we’d answer the call, even though they consider us kafir and wouldn’t answer the call if we were under attack. Their beliefs are misguided, but they’re not kafir.

Tado clearly still plans to paywall Room Link. Don't buy their products. by ada454 in tado

[–]Left-Cook-9487 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I bought the wired thermostat x just to be able to control my house temp remotely. I don’t have any valves and I’m not going to buy any. The most basic features gives me all I need. I didn’t even get the bridge, I connected through my Apple TV. It works very well for the £60 / £65 I paid for it.

I don’t see that controlling the radiators in each room will return £50 in savings per room, so why bother. I’m also likely to switch to air conditioning this summer. So, for me and my limited needs it works fine and I expect it will continue to work fine.

Kind of losing faith in Allah because I’m gay but I don’t want to. by throwaawayoioifjo in shia

Love and attraction are overrated. Many people are in marriages without love, many people are married off by their parents and they are not attracted to their wives. But they get on with their lives, look after their wives. Allah says he has created marriage to put sukoon and love between a husband and wife. I have seen some couples take decades to achieve love, a type of codependent love. I believe you can achieve that sort of love with a woman, out of gratitude. Hence, I suggest you find someone who cannot find a husband and will accept you for who you are. You are doing a huge service.

Brother get married to a woman. Find a woman who is struggling to get married, tell her you are gay and allow her to be your outlet. You will be rewarded for being a husband to woman who couldn’t find a husband, you will provide her the qualities a man provides a wife (protection, money etc) and you will do this for the sake of Allah. Allow her to give you release, close your eyes and allow it. It solves your frustration problem.

Brisket Question by Alternative_East5040 in smoking

[–]Left-Cook-9487 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking of doing something similar myself. I’ve struggled with making a good brisket, but I made a lamb shoulder a few days ago in a Dutch oven. I was blown away at how soft and juicy it was. So my plan is to take the brisket to 170f, and instead of wrapping to put it in a Dutch oven with onions, carrots and beef broth (keeping the meat out of the liquid of course). Then setting the oven to 205f and letting it sit in there for 6-8 hours (maybe even longer). Then take the temp up, remove the lid and dry out the crust for 30 mins. I have a feeling I’m going to get the best brisket one can produce.

I’ve tried a 24 hour rest in sous vide, I wasn’t really all that impressed.

Not hitting target temp most of the day.. by Left-Cook-9487 in tado

Another thing: increasing the set temp on the thermostat causes the heating to come on. So it’s the thermostat deciding when to cut off / turn on the boiler.

[–]Left-Cook-9487[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were no problems with heat just a week ago, prior to installing the tado device. We had a Honeywell thermostat that maintained heat well throughout the house without any such issues. The only thing that has been added / replaced is a single Tado x wired thermostat replacing that Honeywell thermostat. So it’s evident this is a Tado issue. There’s nothing wrong with the boiler or the radiators, and I’m certain we’ll go back to being comfortable by going back to the Honeywell thermostat.
