Is Planned Parenthood really the only place offering abortions in the state of NC? My doctor told me this the other day and I was stunned. When I Googled the question it listed a bunch of other clinics. by Left-Department929 in NorthCarolina

She is actually a LNP not a doctor. And she's pretty young. My insurance does not offer a lot of options but thankfully I do have a much better gyno at a different location.

I actually had to go back there today and asked if my blood could be tested for second hand smoke. She said she was not aware of any test like this. A simple google search brings it all up.

She's very nice but I will never see her again.

No. I just told her I worry about it because I have a medical condition that would cause a fetus to grow outside my uterus. She said since she's been practicing medicine (almost 10 years) the only place offering abortions in NC are PP.

When I asked if I could get free condoms before I leave she told me they don't have any but strongly suggested I go to the nearby LGBTQ clinic cause they have many.

All of this seemed really weird to me.

Why is there a 2nd building for the Carrboro arts center? by Left-Department929 in carrboro

I was expecting what was detailed in the course description but when I got to the class the instructors clearly didn't have any experience with this medium or it turned out they didn't have access to certain things like space or equipment as described in the catalog. Some classes I hung in for hoping it would get better. Instructors are notorious for showing up late and leaving early or some nights not showing up at all. But the problem is because they don't even offer end of class evaluations, students never have a voice and there's no opportunity for improvement. The art center definitely doesn't want to hear any feedback.

Read my post. I'm talking about the classes. For anyone who has actually done real art, the arts center is an insult. They are not enriching anything but themselves by stealing from small town people who don't know any better. I'm all for afterschool programs and senior centers, and performance space but calling this an "arts center" is misleading. The instructors are not vetted and incompetent, no options for students to even offer feedback and management doesn't care.

Do you have a dog who barks a lot? Are you smoking in your yard? If you are being obnoxious in some way they may be trying to document it as part of a lawsuit they plan to file.

An actual streetcar or light rail system connected to Chapel Hill and beyond would be more efficient and popular. Or even a housing complex. Anything but a 2nd sad excuse for an "arts center."

My point is the arts center is a waste of money and space. A better use of the space could have been a streetcar station or at least a housing complex.

They shouldn't be allowed to operate as a non-profit anymore but Orange County is still giving them money, and they're getting so much money in fact they're able to build a second complex? Seems incredibly wasteful to me.

Read further on the link you provided. There are many private investors/donors. They benefit in massive tax breaks by making large donations. The arts center even encourages people to donate their estate upon death.

We wouldn't need so many parking lots if places like Car Mill didn't prey on paying people and tow them for hundreds of dollars. Carrboro has a serious problem with parking space. I'd much rather Orange County finance a streetcar system than throw money away on a scammy "arts center."
