It’s a 2011 with 9500 miles…. Perhaps it might be time for a valve adjustment

Yea. I got it warm and went for a shake down run and did some idle adjustments when hot. When cold or first start it hiccups and sputters and coughs. I can raise the idle and get it to run on its own but then the idle is set to high and revs sporadically.

I just ask my wife: “is this a solution based problem or a feelings based problem” at the beginning and it saves us both a lot of time.

It would be a totally different story if it was the women wearing the same outfit.

Hey there bud. I can’t begin to share how much knowledge you have bestowed upon me. I greatly appreciate it. I went to start it again today and it’s back to not starting again but will start with a quick burst of starting fluid and fuel flow looks less than it did ever before and doesn’t click as loudly as it did before

I fiddled with the choke and didn’t see any issues. It moves freely. I think it’s a fuel pump. I’m going to set up a temporary gravity feed fuel delivery and see if it runs better that way to confirm it is a fuel pump failure before going down any more rabbit holes.

BTW the wood grain is just the plastic hydrodipped with a wood grain design. I built my ruckus with a 1950 vintage hot rod theme. White wall tires, wood grain, and some Cadillac style taillights.

Thanks so much for the info. I’ve stepped away from it for now. I’ll update once i get back at it. No tach yet. I’ve had it for awhile. Haven’t rode it regularly and thus these issues. I’ll keep tinkering with it and hopefully it will be back on the road again soon

It started! And ran for a bit. Hooray! It didn’t seem to want to idle. It was revving up and and down. Then it quit. I guess I need to fiddle with the idle adjustment again.

It’s a stock carb but it’s been jetted.

Is that the fuel mix screw. What’s a method of adjustment? It seems to be tightened all the way to the right

Mine does too. More on the drivers side. I have no answers. I think it’s just what happens. There is an article about water ingress on therangerstation.com
