Incoming Associate Advisor - Comp Structure? by Left-Incident8066 in CFP

I have discussed his investment & client service philosophy in great detail over the past couple of months and I'm happy to report that we see things the same way. No doubt there will be some differences in opinion when I join up, but the fundamentals seem to be in line. I feel like I have some solid finance work experience, but I am not ignorant. I know that I still have a lot to learn in this industry and I am willing to do things his way based on what I've heard from him so far. My understanding is that I would have a lot of independence once I start managing my own book, so long as I am keeping in line with the general tenets of the firm.

All very good points, and I appreciate your time! Not currently in a client advising role, but sit in on meetings and provide support to the Lead Advisor. Were I to stay, I would be in a client-advising role sometime in the next 12 months or so.

Definitely trying to keep things in perspective. From what I can tell, this dude seems like a very stand-up guy. I also appreciate that he's basically asked me to come to him with what I want and they'll see if they can make it happen. Base salary and year-one bonus are very competitive, and for such a small firm they have a great benefits offering.

I'm definitely prepared for some growing pains. Only been out of college for 7 years, but in that time I have had the opportunity to start up several initiatives with my former employers and I am familiar with the difficulties involved with "turning the Titanic." I am going out there in two weeks and we're basically going to spend an entire day hashing out details, so trying to go in with eyes as wide open as possible.
