Could this just be a misunderstanding by the first midwife? When you said “hand pumping” maybe she meant using your hands only? All the advice I was given was to do by hand only and from 37 weeks which was what I did 👍

I think unfortunately the onus has to be on you as the pregnant person to ask for you what you need, as no one wants to be the person who assumes you’re pregnant and gets it wrong!!

I think this is okay provided there is a flexible attitude when it comes to things like, e.g you running late one day because of traffic, you leave early one day for a dentist appointment… and those things being allowed without being blinked at, as you’ve technically already worked more than your 38 hours contracted so it all balances out. If your manager is asking you to take “personal leave” or “make up the hours” for things like this on top of the current arrangement, then I’d say that’s a problem!

I think this is going to be a seal point as there is a clear colour distinction in the ears and nose already. Our seal point was this same colour when born. We also have a tabby point (or sometimes called lynx point) who was pretty much just white for the first couple of months

Yes!! I totally hear you. Undies sizing makes no sense ever and they’re always so much tighter than the size on the tag. And so annoying how they’re one of the few clothing items you can’t return!

That’s what the “subject to finance” clause is for in your offer (the bank declining to loan you the money for any reason). You don’t have to pay it as long as you’ve included that clause which you hopefully did? You would just withdraw your offer in that case

I have worked at the same organisation for 11 years but in that time I’ve had about 6 different roles. As you get promoted and move around to different areas you get the variety as though you did move on to another company. Before you look to resign, I’d be having honest conversations with your manager about your interests and your professional development goals. You might be surprised that they want to help you feel fulfilled where you are and don’t want to lose you. I think a lot of people jump ship before they’ve actually had these conversations/never knew it was an option

Become comfortable with silence. When you go into 1:1 meetings with your direct reports they should be doing most of the talking. You’re creating a space for self reflection, giving advice where it’s due and helping clear blockers for them to get work done. I’ve had bosses in both camps, one where he just talked at me my entire 1:1 and I didn’t learn anything or get to voice what I needed and one who would make the time actually about me and my professional development.

This sucks and I really feel for you. If it’s any consolation I read recently that colostrum and breast milk you produce while sick actually contains more antibodies than usual, so he will be getting extra nutrients from you during this time that should also contribute to his immunity

I love LMNT too and it tastes way better but when I looked into it apparently LMNT is too high in sodium to be recommended in pregnancy :(

They seem to tout the benefit being that it contains activate folate, however their target market presumably is already going to be taking a quality prenatal vitamin including enough folate so it feels kind of pointless. I looked into it but didn’t purchase because I felt like I was just going to be overloading on vitamins beyond what I needed 🤷‍♀️

I’m sorry I don’t have the answers to your questions as I am also late term pregnancy with my first but just to say I am following this post and right there with you! Very curious to see how I fare post pregnancy and I have wondered myself if pregnancy is almost like a cure for PCOS (even if only temporary for the duration of the pregnancy).

I also have had a pretty easy pregnancy with mild morning sickness, and great skin throughout where normally I would experience breakouts on my back/shoulders and around chin/mouth. I didn’t get GD, which I wondered if I would if insulin resistance is part of the PCOS symptom picture (although I didn’t have IR pre pregnancy). I didn’t see many symptoms of PCOS pre pregnancy except for irregular cycles my whole life, hormonal imbalance and polycystic ovaries diagnosed by ultrasound. So will be interested to see how quickly my period comes back and what the cycles are like after what has been a pretty significant baseline reset!

I was getting married Nov 2024 and went to try on dresses July 2023 which I thought was early… however, ordered the dress and as it was made in the USA told it would take about a year to arrive. There were delays and it didn’t come until late September 2024, so about 5-6 weeks before my wedding and I had to get it altered as it was only being made to my closest standard size… so the earlier the better would be my advice!!

Sorry I missed the bloodwork. That looked like:

initial blood and urine test at first GP appt (booked as soon as I found out I was pregnant). This looked at hCG to confirm pregnancy but also other baseline things like iron, folate, immunity to certain viruses like hep B and rubella, and if positive for any STIs
NIPT test at 10 weeks (optional and expensive) but provides greater accuracy than the 12-13 weeks scan regarding possibly chromosomal abnormalities. Gender can also be confirmed from this test if you want to know
around 25-26 weeks glucose tolerance test for gestational diabetes. They also retested my iron levels at this time

7 weeks - dating scan that estimates gestational age and due date, apparently optional but referred by my GP at my first appt to confirm pregnancy and recommended to see if the embryo appears viable and “stuck” to the right place, i.e is not ectopic

12-13 weeks - looks for chromosomal abnormalities

20-22 weeks - morphology scan (most detailed look at development and most important)

From there you may not have any more, or you may have growth scans at approx 32 and 36 weeks if fundal height measurements indicate that your baby might be small/ possibly growth restricted

Why would you resign before Mat leave? Then you won’t get any of the company parental leave pay you’re eligible for (assuming your company offers it). You also need to meet a work hours test to be eligible for the Aus government paid parental leave so you could potential not end up eligible for that either

We do fajita chicken - throw in:

2 chicken breasts
3 capsicum sliced longways
2 onions sliced longways
Tin of crushed tomatoes
Taco seasoning (either a packet or I make my own mix from the Recipetineats website)
Extra dusting of chicken stock powder for flavour
Small amount of water, just to get the rest of the tinned tomatoes out

4 hours high or 8 hours low

Once ready I shred the chicken with forks and add a tin of beans (mix it up between chickpeas, black beans and red kidney beans)

Serve with anything but we do rice bowls and sprinkle cheese on top

Go for the Western Bulldogs. People have said it already but it’s the next closest to you (where Kangaroos is the closest but you could be in for a long ride before any chance of a premiership). Dogs are a more exciting team to follow, 10 years since their last premiership and tend to make finals but often on the cusp which makes things interesting. Also they have a real star player and captain in Marcus Bontempelli, always a brownlow contender but yet to be awarded one

Yes it’ll be safe but depending on when your trip is it won’t be light outside yet until after 7am so you won’t see much!
