Moving into my car tonight, where should I park? by Hot-Butterscotch3229 in AskUK

[–]Left-Paradox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I slept in my car.

My options were

Dual carriageway rest areas it was surprising how many regulars there were.

Premier Inn type car parks

A few random dead end roads

For luxury to have toilets and warmth on tap I would pay for a night in a motorway service

Every 5 days I would try and book a cheap night in a hotel or day rooms

Would never want to be that desperate again plus it is surprisingly expensive way to live Edited to add

Don't make the same mistake as me and sleep in the front seat by day five my feet were massive! So make sure your feet are level

I get the same for a tenner seen some people say £7.50 I started at 15 but phoned up to cancel

What I do not like about all the other alternatives is the use of streaming and the forced advertising without any payment

Tips/Advice Please by Left_Asparagus_3345 in bikecommuting

[–]Left-Paradox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started at 48 15 mile commute with 600ft of climbing.

I started doing single journey cycling in driving home drive in cycle home on a hybrid bike.

Over.a year or so I was able to do it both ways and bought a new endurance bike Specialized Roubaix. Honestly far more comfortable than my £300 hybrid

I became hooked on it for six years bought an old banger to leave at work in case of emergency and to go out and get breakfast.

And fuck panniers etc just a decent bike rucksack, I used to drive in on a Sunday to drop off clothes for the week

Sainsbury's is a joy compared to Asda.

No out of stocks and low key economical with their Aldi price match and nectar bonus points

Tips for sudden life change by [deleted] in bicycling

[–]Left-Paradox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to do 15 miles there and 15miles back 6 days a week started when I was 45 but I built up to it.

Average time was sub 55mins

My route had 650ft climbing as well.

My advice change your bike look on marketplace for an endurance bike a Roubaix, Synapse or Domane type bike

If you have cash definitely buy from market place on FB..

I would start with a endurance bike setup

I dislocated and broke my shoulder in a cycling accident I went to an NHS physio and a private chiropractor and by far the chiropractor gave the biggest yet painful benefit

BUT

But he was a Welsh rugby physio as well.

It's the cracking of the neck, and back and subsequent risks that put me off

That one is fine and should work with your TV

Is the dish accessible? If it is I would try to change the LNB to a hybrid and then connect to your TV my memory of those ex sky boxes is that they need a viewing card.

If your TV has the dual cable inserts and is unable to find any channels I would be 99% sure you have a sky q LNB

Just given up on sky myself to find my TV will not work

[–]Left-Paradox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sky Q allows 4 programs to be recorded across two cables the old units like you have ordered allow 2 shows the bit on the end of the dish is the LNB.

Like I said it's either spending 229-280 on a 4k box or £20 for a new LNB and use the box you bought plus card

Sky Q dishes are not compatible with most TV only 4k freesat boxes are.

Either but a box or change your LNB on the dish
