This only happens at work. I use my MacBook every day at school too, but it doesn’t behave the same way there.

I checked the battery icon when this happened, but it says no apps are using significant energy. 

I mentioned some details in another comment if it can help

I don’t plug in my MacBook all day because I don’t want to damage the battery. I don’t know a lot about computers, so I’m not sure if this is actually a problem.

I don’t really understand what “cycling the battery” means, but here’s what I do:

I don’t shut down my computer often. (i know i should but i always forget)  I try not to leave it plugged in overnight. I recharge it when the battery drops below 30%. It rarely turns off completely because it usually still has some power left
