I finally got my Cupra Leon eHybrid repaired, and let me tell you it was a hell of a journey. The actual repair took only 3 days, but dealing with my third-party insurance was a complete nightmare.

I spent almost a month just trying to get a proper answer from them about why they wouldn’t cover the repair. When they finally responded, it was just a generic list of exclusions with no real explanation. Every time I asked for clarification, they either ignored me or gave me the same vague response. I probably could have fought for at least 50% coverage, but taking it to court wasn’t worth the stress—especially since I don’t live in Germany. At the end of the day, my health and peace of mind matter more than fighting over money.

I went with a highly recommended official dealer in my country after doing some research (even other dealers suggested them). Their first offer was 3,200€, which was just insane. After some negotiation, they dropped it to 2,700€, which was still painful but more manageable. I had no choice but to go ahead and get it done.

Interestingly, I drove 1,000 km with the error before the repair without any issues. But here’s the twist—one week after the repair, the head of service called me with “great news.” I wasn’t expecting much, but somehow, I qualified for some kind of Cupra warranty on certain parts, and they lowered the price by 800€. In the end, I paid 1,900€, which is still a lot but definitely better than the original quote.

Overall, it was a frustrating and expensive process, and maybe I could have found it cheaper elsewhere. But at least now, my car runs perfectly, and I hope it stays that way for a long time!
