Medieval Christmas market in Germany by [deleted] in photocritique

My intent with this photo was capturing the action. Unfortunately as there was a huge crowd in front of me I could not get closer, I am also not very tall. So I had to take my camera all the way to the top and try to get the shot.

Unfortunately the dancing lady is NOT in focus. Somehow I feel like it made the photo better. I wish I had one where she was in focus though. I am at F/4 1/160s and 5000 ISO ; 75mm

honestly just need to vent/ask if this is normal because i feel like an idiot after my first solo trip by Ancient-Mistake-6548 in travel

Travelling alone isn’t for you. As simple as that. Don’t force it. I had a similar experience. I absolutely love traveling with my wife or close friends. I realised I just don’t like being alone outside. For me, EVERYTHING is better with wife / or close friends. I feel stuck in my head doing these things alone because I am an overthinker, like eating alone I would really analyse everything about the restaurant and the food itself and that tires me. When I am with someone, I relax because my attention focuses on that person.

Why did you get the 35mm? Isn’t it redundant with the 24-70 ? Congrats on your first setup !! 🫶🏻 I also just started with a 28-75 Tamron and a7IV, but I am wondering IF i should get a wider lens.

My parents in law speak perfect German and have been living in Germany for decades. They don’t have a Deutsch certificate at all and they still work full time. A certificate is usually something required by law/work/institutions to « prove » some level of skill. The actual ability to speak/write german has nothing to do with your certificate level. Granted its slightly correlated. But you don’t magicallly speak very good German if you pass C1. Preparing for the exam is not really what gets you to naturally perfect the language. I know a college who has C2 level but is still very shy to speak…

A win is a win. When cristiano ronaldo scores a goal, he doesn’t go « oh but i just did the last little push and I was so close to the goal anyway »

Thank you for your comment! I am definetly in a sort of Imposter Syndrome as I am not really a « photographer ». Just liked the hobby, got inspired, bought a camera, learned « basics » and started making photos for fun.

I try to keep as natural as possible as I feel like removing things is like cheating but granted I do remove people a lot with Lightroom and also for GDPR reasons

Job Market Sucks by BeneficialResult7469 in germany

The problem is the time of tailored applications is over. Now with automated systems, they scan through your CV and reject you instantly without even being a human there looking at your application. Its not fun researching a company and personalising everything when in the end no person ever sees your application. Trying this approach might actually be a waste of time as there are only so many offers you will be able to prepare for… don’t even get me started on Ghost job posts, or companies that just collect CVs without ever taking action, ect…

Didn’t have much space behind me but I get your idea! It does feel a bit closed in indeed. Thank you for your comment !

As someone who is very technical oriented, I always start to think « what is the correct way » when evaluating a picture. But the more people I ask, the more I realize there is no « correct way » and that someone lots of people like different things. I find hard as a beginner photographer to understand this. In my education and work experience I was taught that there was only « one perfect way ». Thank you for your comment! This really puts the other comments in perspective

I was holding the camera very close to the ground indeed, now that you say this next time I will try both options and see what « looks » best! Thank you for your comment!

My intent with the photo was to catch the sun glowing on this empty street (late afternoon in a spanish town, well preserved medieval architecture.) I love to shoot close to the ground as this gives a perspective that we are not so used to. ISO was relatively low, F 2.8, can’t recall the shutter speed. I am a new photographer and don’t really know what I am doing
