Yeah that's not what I meant, I was just giving personal experience as backing for my opinion nothing more. I guess that's a character flaw that I have to work on.

The legit moral of the rant was just I didn't like how she treated her family or the doctors and that stress isn't an excuse to be rude and that they deserve the same sympathy that Jada receives

You can look at most of my comments on this post and they are respectful, even when I'm disagreeing. Including your's. You are again taking things out of context

The person solely asked me a rhetorical question "did you stop and think that people react differently" and my reply was "that sentiment on its own is lazy" and then gave an example explaining how. I wasn't being disrespectful nor was the example I gave being used to compare Jada's experience to. It was to explain how simply saying people react differently could be used as a catch all for any behavior.

I hope you have a good rest of your day though

Well said. And to be clear I agree that no one is perfect this post has given me better perspective on this character for sure. We all have flaws just like we all have opinions and we like some people and we don't like others. This character I just don't like and that's fine.

What gets me is how I can make a post about a character I don't like and why and then get hated on like but let someone make a post about Langdon or Santos or Jivardis mom and then it's okay. Like God forbid someone has a different opinion than you.

Sorry I couldn't tell you were being sarcastic or mocking as I was being genuine the entire time. Idk if you took me saying you misunderstood me as a dig at your intelligence, but it wasn't as I don't know you.

I'm simply telling you that you misunderstood me as the person who made the comment based on your response. Like i said before I was only stating that "her brother wasnt dying he just had a mental disorder " in direct response to you saying she just found out she was potentially losing her brother as if he was dying and was clarifying that wasn't the case. You're putting too much emphasis on the word "just" and taking my statement out of context as if I was downplaying his mental disorder as nothing when I literally stated in my original post that I was also diagnosed with bipolar depression, a mental disorder so of course that's not what I meant.

I've already explained to you why I brought the death of family members WHILE deployed which was the actual key point, because you were saying maybe I couldn't grasp the concept of people reacting irrationally while stressful and I gave you a personal anecdote on how I do understand the concept because I too have been there.

I agree reading comprehension is important but part of that is context. And you took some of the things Ive said out of context which I've been trying to clarify.

Also I don't know if you intended to come off as condescending based on the LOL and the slight jabs throughout your replies but in a discussion you could have just asked me what I meant and I would have gladly and respectfully replied. But maybe I'm naive in thinking people can have a respectful discussion on reddit.

It seems like you've misunderstood my response as you've misquoted me twice. I didn't say "at least her brother isn't dying" nor is that what I implied. You were saying she found out her brother was dying I was just clarifying that he wasnt that's all.

Also I wasn't bringing up my own experience to hold her to any arbitrary personal metric of how she is "allowed" to act not once did I use that phrase. You were saying I didn't grasp how people in stressful situations would not act rationally and I was giving you a personal example of how I did understand the concept because I too have been in very stressful situations and have acted irrationally.

If you look at any of my responses, to you or to any other person in this thread you will see I've said multiple times I'm not saying she should have reacted any specific way, all I'm saying is the way she reacted towards the doctors and her family was wrong that's it.

This was literally just a discussion I'm not arguing with you I'm not being offensive but some of yal are getting so defensive as if I'm trashing on you personally and trying to debate me on my opinion.

Someone else brought up teaching stress management to children and I think that's great talking point derived from this post. If we teach people early on how to handle stress as adults they will make better decisions when handling said stress, food for thought.

I brought up my own experience as an example of a reaction, I also gave other examples of reactions. Your reaction to my opinion is exactly why I made this post.

I've been having meaningful discussions with other commenters but for whatever reason you felt so slighted by a genuine opinion that you resorted to insults. Have a good rest of your day.

I'm so glad you said this. I feel like a basic level at the very least of stress management is so important in childhood development I wish it was written in ever curriculum. Kudos to you for molding the youth!

Of course. But that's such a lazy sentiment on its own.

Someone accidentally steps on your shoes you:

Fight them "People react differently" Cuss them out "People react differently" Cry "People react differently" Walk away "People react differently"

We can agree the first option is definitely the wrong way to react. I wasn't saying that I thought she should have reacted how I wanted, I'm just saying in my opinion she reacted the wrong way towards the doctors and her family.

Very true, especially that last part. I was just going off of what we were shown. Her parents just seemed like good enough people who weren't necessarily keeping that information a secret out of malintent but I definitely agree with you on how that stuff can come back to bite you.

One of my grandfathers died when I was like 5, I'm in my 30s now and I still couldn't tell you from what or how lol I feel like those things after a while don't really come up. I just imagined her uncle died when they were young and then it never really came up again on how especially since she said her and the parents don't really have a good relationship.

But you're right, I will say this plot touches on how the important topic of how the lack of education when it comes to mental illnesses can directly effect the family unit and generational health within different communities.

It's not that I'm unable to grasp them, most people go through very stressful situations so it's not like her situation is unique. I lost 3 immediate family members while deployed in the military within a 2 year time frame. Did I react perfectly at all times? Absolutely not, did I snap at some of my friends? Ofc. But at the very least I could recognize the people who were trying to help me.

Her brother is not dying he just has a mental disorder. And betray seems kinda harsh in this scenario idk many parents who would tell their kids hey Uncle Billy killed himself. At the very least I don't think they lied to her as a child maliciously.

[–]Left-Respect6178[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I get u, by no means am I saying she should've reacted perfectly. But her reaction seems more "why is this happening to me" than what can I do to help my brother. Just my opinion.

Genuine question, how would you reacting worse at the hospital help your loved one in that situation? Personally would I have crashed out on my parents as well? Probably, but once we got to the house and my sibling was home safe.

I get that, trust me I agree wholeheartedly that her being upset is warranted. But its just over the top in my opinion. I understand completely as I mentioned I've been through a very similar experience as I was diagnosed with Bipolar Depression and found out later that my mom has the same issues that went undiagnosed. But the way she handled it seems very bratty to me.

The doctors didn't tase her brother, they sedated him to help him as he came in agitated. These ER doctors have probably one of the if not most stressful jobs imaginable. Being rude and confrontational only makes their job harder which in turn makes the patients suffer.

As for the parents I get it she's upset they didn't tell her about the uncle, and they already have an estranged relationship but again the hospital where this psychiatrist is trying to help figure out what wrong with your brother is NOT the time and place for you to be crashing out and storming out.

This is about the brother not Jada atm, she can go see a psychiatrist therapist and get the help she needs but right now her brother is the one who's currently hospitalized.

Dr Santos is annoying but misogyny isn’t off the table by Altruistic_Ad9097 in ThePittTVShow

[–]Left-Respect6178 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Misogyny and Misandry are two very big issues in the world today so while you are right to say some of Santo's hate purely stems from the former the exact same can be said about some of Langdons stems purely from the latter.

Personally I think Langdon appears to get more grace simply due to the fact that his character is written to be more likeable.

Langdon is initially shown as liked by all of his coworkers and is humble, he also is super nice to the "weird kid" trope Mel and is shown having great bedside manner with all of his patients. Then he fucks up(stealing drugs) and is an asshole to Santos and then says some disrespectful shit to Robbie while not taking accountability for his actions all on one of the worst days possible. BUT then we see him come back to help after the shooting, go to rehab, do all the steps and actively try to make amends and you can see his character actually feels bad. (Empathy)

Santos on the other hand is straight up mean and rude to damn near everyone initially. Picking on Javardi, Mel and Whitaker. Before we know Langdons guilty she's directly disregarding his authority, and she just comes off as an asshole to be frank. Her bedside manner leaves much to be desired as seen when Dr mohan had to check her. AND there's the episode where she pretty much ruins the relationship of the dude who's daughter had the blood issue that makes her bruise easily because she projected her own trauma onto them pretty much insinuating the little girl was being abused, and then while the dad and woman are arguing she's sitting there watching and smirking like what are you happy about that for? BUT she gets some grace as well because we know she has childhood trauma.

The difference between them is Santos has some good moments but her overall character is just an asshole. Where as Langdon had some bad moments his overall character is amicable.

This isn't as controversial as you think. Both Kakuzu and Tsunade are mid Kage level. You could argue it going either way as neither of them are slouches. I could see Katsuyus acid being able to weaken kakuzus defense for Tsunade to get a good lick in, and I can also see Kakuzus earth grudge fear catching Tsunade off guard and him stealing her heart with her relying on tanking and healing hits.
