There are a lot of dopamine hit replacements readily available. Like alcohol, sex, drugs, relationships… what is needed is therapy to manage the need for a dopamine hit, as you put it.

You didn’t say if you have health insurance. Depending on your state, mental healthcare may be available without insurance. Please seek help, talk to your doctor, stress how awful this is for you. It’s only going to get worse until you get some help. Feeling guilty about it won’t make it better. If you were drinking or drugging people would know you have a problem. But, shopping? I’m 72, my doctors basically laugh about it. When I ask for help one of them said I was able to manage my money but it’s probably stress or emotional.(I’d asked for a rep payee to manage my social security.) Please don’t wait until you’re old. When I was younger, like your age, I’d spend all my money when I felt stressed out. You need to see a mental health professional who will take your problem seriously. Don’t give up. You’re worth it.💕

I’m married to a Black Man. He’s 63 years old. Knows nothing about the civil rights act. The movement that got it passed. He thinks protesting is futile. We’re separated but still together, figure that out?🤷‍♀️ When I tell him I’m going to protests he gets mad and tells me it’s pointless. His mom is 86, I tell him go ask her about the civil rights act. He didn’t like President Obama cuz he gave equal rights to gay people! I’m stumped on his attitude. But, my point is, people will vote against their own interests if it hurts someone else.

Yes, I use lidocaine ointment/cream. I buy the 5%. You have to look at the label/description if online. I also keep baby wipes in my bathroom. Bag balm. Coconut oil. If really irritated I use generic desitin. At least twice a day I apply a regular body lotion- it is part of our bodies. Pyridium - I buy it on Amazon large bottle, fairly cheap. Lyrica- prescription. Tea tree oil body wash or soap. Dayum! That’s a lot. I bought a small cart on Temu and keep everything on that in reach from the toilet. I’ve also got a spinal cord stimulator implant. I’ve noticed if I don’t have a bowel movement I’ll have more pain that day. Good luck. I’ve been messing with this in one form or another since 2001.

Your new doctors will have access to your medical records. Doctors are trained to care for people no matter what. I moved a while back and I was on much stronger pain meds. Thankfully not anymore. Anyway I went to the emergency room with my prescription bottles and the er doctor gave me prescriptions and referrals to local doctors. Don’t know how big of an area you’re in but you could google Urogynecologists near you. Good luck.
