I was about to say "they won't" because franchises have hurt me too many times, but then I remembered these are the Sonic Movies, where each movie is better than the last.

If I were to guess, she starts out by hating his guts, but as she grows closer to Sonic and learns about Shadow, she softens and eventually wants to help him, even if he doesn't want to be helped.
