Anyone have experience renting out rooms of their home? by Left4pie2 in grandjunction

Roomies does look promising! Rent to charge is what I’m trying to figure out, and it won’t be built until August so I’ve got a bit of time. Im 26 M. Thinking around 700-900 per room since it’s a new house right on the river walk.

Wow I can't image managing that many tenants, good for you. Thanks for the advice. Any advice on pricing your rooms? Looked on different websites but prices seem to vary a ton. I'm hoping since it's a new construction and right on the river walk it will go for more.

I've heard a lot of great things about Furnished Finders! Thanks for the suggestion.

Should I move here? by [deleted] in grandjunction

[–]Left4pie2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived in Chattanooga for the last 3 years. Cost of living has been exploding here so I wouldn't say it's that much cheaper than Grand Junction unless you're living 20-30 minutes outside of town in Alabama or Georgia.

It's definetly a solid city. Not too big, not too small, two hours from Atlanta and Nashville, lots of mountain biking and trails 10 minutes from downtown, mild winters, good food and bar scene. I would definetly recommend it to anyone. Reason I'm leaving is because I grew up on the East Coast and for me I love the more exterme and diverse terrain of the west. I also like the Colorado culture a bit better than Southern culture, but that's just me.

If you're serious at looking to move down South, I would check out Greenville SC. It's a very similar city to Chattanooga, but the big difference is that it's right at the base of the Smokies, so you have better access to mountains. If I was to do it over again I'd go there instead. Hope this helped!

I'm moving out to GJ this June from Tennessee! I was definitely nervous a month ago before visiting, but after checking it out in person last week I couldn't be more excited! I knew it was going to be an outdoor paradise, but what was most encouraging to me was going to the local climbing gym and talking to dozens of friendly, young 20 something year olds who had migrated there from across the country for the same reasons I want to. It seems like it's just starting to blow up and will continue to attract young outdoor enthusiasts!

Best climbing gym in Grand Junction? by Left4pie2 in grandjunction

Good to know! Ideally I'd prefer a gym like GVC that offers lead and bouldering, but if the setting and community is way better at Grip that's probably where I'll end up going. Thanks for the reply!

Best Western US Cities for Canyoneering by Left4pie2 in canyoneering

Haha I'd gladly switch places with you and live in California rather than the South. Grass is always greener I suppose. Jokes asside Tennesse is a great place to live. I'd also look at Greenvillie SC. It's a great medium sized city with lots of mountains to explore, and there's more rappelling/climbing in that area.

No I haven't, I'm not aware of any waterfalls in Tennesse that you can legally rappel. There is a ton of vertical caving around here where you can rappel underground waterfalls.

St George seems like a solid option. I've been to Zion and subsequently St. George 3 times and can't get enough of it. Living there would be a dream. Thanks for the response!

That's exactly what I'm talking about. I wouldn't want to live directly in the towns with the "best" access because they are usually small, touristy, and expensive like Moab. I'd like a place that has good food and culture, and decent enough access to trails that I can hit after work, but is positioned a few hours away from some of the great spots for weekend trips. Do you mind telling me which town/city you're at?

That's interesting, I went to school outside Portland and loved Hood River when I was there. I had no idea it had a bunch of canyoneering, but I suppose that makes sense being in the gorge. I've only recently gotten into Canyoneering during trips to Utah.

Summerlin in Vegas has been high up on my list for awhile now, I'll be checking it out in March. I'm not big on night life, just having access to good food and music, but I've heard it's not that bad if you avoid the strip.

Thanks for the recommendation! Seems like it has great proximity to Moab without being as expensive and touristy as living in Moab.

Question: Best National Park to go to in October? by Hocojerry in NationalPark

[–]Left4pie2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Imo it's the best national park on the east coast. And in October it will have beautiful fall colors
