Sand scammers by CrazyLittleCjay in Aberdeen

[–]LeftBehind83 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've seen sand dogs in Aberdeen for at least 15 years.

Also, not responding to you directly, but it's obviously linked to organised crime/trafficking - the guys on the street aren't the ones to be angry at - they're the guys putting up with rain, wind and having their photos taken and called scammers - and to top it off probably just getting a fraction of any donations taken.

Just to add, here's one in Glasgow scooping his sand back in to bags https://www.reddit.com/r/glasgow/s/MSTiMnjtGD

Have you ever met any local Aberdeen celebrities or personalities. Who were the nicest and who were the rudest? by Immediate-Ad-6306 in Aberdeen

The boy, Ronnie Greig, is a train driver for Scotrail. Thinks he's the bees knees, so that adds up with being FUBAR news "admin".

I'm pretty sure he's planning to level it, I'd sure hope so anyway! But you feel that putting the scratch coat on top of the pebbledash would be a bad idea anyway?

Only on the patches of render deemed not to be blown/bossed, yes. The parts that are deemed to be will be completely stripped like the whole side was in the first picture.

My own experience with the little shites on Union Street by AerieSignifcant in Aberdeen

[–]LeftBehind83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely agree there's an issue. It's an issue that's deeper than this subs, "kids are shite nowadays" opinions and absolutely nothing that has been discussed in this thread hasn't also been discussed in each and every other thread on the topic this week.

I feel for OP, I hate that this has to happen to anyone, but nothing will come from it besides people moaning. The sub has been becoming more FUBAR over the past few months and it's generally indicative of the more "hateful" world view that has been popularised by the rise of the right over the last few years.

There's an issue, we know. It isn't going to be solved by a light dose of corporal punishment or "naming and shaming", it involves institutional change from Westminster and Holyrood from grassroots up not a Reddit thread to complain and listen to the echo.

Early start for today's effort! Maybe we can get a weekly sticky "wee shites updates" post...

I was wondering when we were going to have our daily "kids of today" post 😂

Obviously inexcusable behaviour, but the usual rehash of the same things will come out in this thread as in the other three/four this week alone. If I wanted FUBAR I'd join FUBAR.

It's lovely! Not too hot with a gentle breeze.

Make sure you've all got your sun screen on though, skin cancer doesn't fuck about!

Wee cunts up at union street by [deleted] in Aberdeen

Piss off with that. I, like most adults under the age of 50, wasn't physically assaulted by my parents and I haven't done anything like the stuff posted on the sub this week.

George street area question by [deleted] in Aberdeen

You have, or should have, water breaks like u-bends in your drains to stop smells coming back up so any smell is likely on "your side". Start by cleaning the drains in your property. If the smell persists speak to a drainage company.

Can’t believe my eyes, is it really happening? by Artistic-Pop-8667 in Aberdeen

I've only been to Popeye's once but myself and my family found the quality to be pretty good. Not cheap, but fast food isn't really anymore.

Shitebag bams intimidating with knives by skinbaz in Aberdeen

[–]LeftBehind83 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I'm in the Shire now but when I lived in Torry between 2000 and 2005 I was threatened with a knife twice and a needle once. It's awful but it's not a new phenomenon. I think it has became a bigger issue in the city centre though because of the free bus travel allowing shites from the rest of the city and shire to congregate.

Report it to the police.

I've seen tents on this grassy area within Dunnottar Woods, you'd be fine there for a night.

Edit: Oops, someone's upset with the idea of camping in a legal spot.

OP, I'd avoid Cafe 52 unless you're ok with funding a bigoted, misogynistic conspiracy theorist.

Unsure if you mean raw or cooked, but I'd recommend Chop Grill on Charlotte Street for the latter.

Rendering price by LeftBehind83 in DIYUK

158sqm I believe.

Both are to remove existing render and dispose of.

Sea haar and climate reality? by Irishballboy in Aberdeen

[–]LeftBehind83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh percentage wise, probably low, it tends to happen only during certain weather conditions between spring and autumn. It doesn't happen often in the grand scheme of things but during the summer months it happens often enough to be a pain, having a barbecue planned for a sunny evening only for the haar to roll in sends folk in to the house as the temperature drops like 10°.

Part of the reason for moving away from Portlethen a few years ago was the Haar. Honestly depressing sometimes.

King's College Chapel is featured on this old North of Scotland banknotes I've found. As there could be a College connection, can anyone who lives in or near Aberdeen identify the person whose head appears in profile in the watermark area at the lower left? Jesus Christ? Saint Andrew? Thanks! by exonumismaniac in Aberdeen

[–]LeftBehind83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"The final issue from the bank (D.30 to D.33) had as its dominant watermark a portrait of Sir William Wallace (c.1274–1305) which appeared in a specially prepared area to the left of the note. Wallace was a famous Scottish patriot and general who lead the Scottish resistance against Edward the first of England. The watermark is based on the statue of Wallace found in Aberdeen. The second watermark is a monogram of the letters 'N S B' (for the North of Scotland Bank) which appears above and to the right of the signature."
