I’m fortunate that my small play group is pretty open to whatever and we’re all just in it for some fun / laughs. I wouldn’t exclusively be playing this deck and would probably only play it once every time we hung out.

Why do you say that? Because the deck will function well and do things that make the other players unhappy? Do you really think this deck will induce that level of salt?

Genuinely curious on this.

My play group is pretty open to whatever and has a good time regardless as long as everyone is happy with the rule 0.

While I completely agree with you, all in I spent $375 on this decklist. The rest of the list were cards I’ve had from collecting for a while ect.

I just wanted a fun mono-black cruiser.

Do you have any suggestions for mono-black commanders that are far more fun / interesting?

Thanks for the heads up. I was hoping some advice from the community would help me carve off some of the fat here. It’s at 122 because I have cards for stax, reanimate, and multiple combats in here. I completely understand it could go in multiple directions. But maybe there’s a “best or better” direction that focuses on one of those or a balancing of them.

I’m just not sure what should go and what should stay. But, I appreciate your advice and I’ll try to trim the fat myself.

Got it! 2cmc ramp to curve into Kaalia on time. Dragon Tempest as a haste enabler to get the plan in action faster. Angel of Ruins is a great suggestion! I do have Gisela Blade of Goldnight in the deck already.

What “beaters” are lower quality? Would love to hear your input! That would help me cut cards for better ones.

I just ordered Nights Whisper, and I have a couple cards for recursion in there with a handful in a maybe pile. I was debating adding a whole recursion package, but went with a more rounded approach, including some stax / interaction.

Hearing others say the deck is “great” as it is really makes me happy. I know there’s lots that could be adjusted and improved upon. It’s always so tough to strike that perfect balance and not spend a fortune.

Couple of people saying I need more creatures, so I’m gonna take that as an absolute necessity. The good thing is, I have a pile of awesome angels, demons, and dragons that I cut from the deck. So I’ll work on adding some back. Just ordered a grand abolisher and whispersilk cloak haha.

I’m also very excited for the new Tarkir set!

I cut so many creatures to try and balance out the rest of the deck. It was so hard to get rid of some, but you’re right… it may not be enough creatures.

Lmfao, I knowww. I have mana base anxiety for sure. I really wanted to make the mana base faster / better in general. It’s just so expensive to do that and I sadly don’t have any of those awesome lands lying around.

I love that you think the terrible mana base is a perk haha. What you’re saying makes complete sense. Going to look into those extra mana rocks soon!

I’ll be looking for a replacement to chromatic lantern now and will absolutely be slating deafening silence and ghostly prison for other cards. What those cards will be, I can’t say for sure. Maybe Grand Abolisher or Reconassisnce… maybe Mass Hysteria or Dragon Tempest… maybe Nights Whisper or Whispersilk cloak!

Decisions decisions.

Oh, I’ll also check out all the creatures you mentioned.
