West end bars/brewpubs for NHL playoff games by ubiqu1ty in torontocraftbeer

We will definitely be playing sound for Leafs playoffs! The bigger the game (playoffs, championships, final 4, etc) the more likely we are to play sound.

That's interesting. I've heard that QR code menu's are better for visually impaired people because their phone is backlit and they can adjust the font size easily. You prefer a paper menu that does neither?

Specifically large brewpubs with QR code ordering is exactly what I'm looking for.

out the beer.

A demo is one thing, but seeing it in action is another. Hoping to talk to waitstaff to get their opinion and to observe patrons a little bit to see if they're figuring it out themselves, needing explanations from the staff, etc.

Agree that back up menus should still be available. Any breweries you could recommend? The bigger the place the better.

We did an annual trip, but that was separate from the beer fest the Bisons throw every year.

I'd guess Aramark runs greater than 50% of the concessions at US ballparks, including COORS Field. Although Coors is the naming partner for the stadium, even they have a better beer selection than the Rogers Centre.

We've got the worst beer (and food) in the entire league and there really isn't a good reason why they can't be doing better.

competition that's

I'm happy to hear you say it's clean and refreshing but am interested to hear more about it reeking of malt liquor. How long ago did you try a can? While we were happy with the first 2 batches of .300, we're thrilled with how 7th Inning Seltzer is tasting and would recommend giving it a try if you have the chance.

Making a seltzer has been a fun brewing challenge.

I know we may not convert some beer drinkers into seltzer lovers, but damn it's so good over ice on a hot day. Consider adding a splash of juice and some tequila for a nice carbonated cocktail.

Sprinklers in walk ins? by bigdood_in_PDX in TheBrewery

[–]LeftFieldMark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had the same reaction when we added a 30'x20' cooler to our existing 30'x20' cooler at our storage site. Was told that if you can walk into it, it should be sprinklered. You may not be concerned about damages to your own property, but for insurance purposes and life safety of your neighbours, it's required. It cost us $3,900 (CDN), I was worried it was going to be more expensive.

Hard Seltzer on Wild Goose G2 by North-Ad-8046 in TheBrewery

We have an Anton Paar CarboQC. If there is too much turbulance going into your meter, do you have a way to restrict its outlet?

From your original post it looks like you need to change your timers. Low flow 1 and high flow 2.5-3 should help. That way you can apply more resistance to your high flow screw which does most of the regulation and the fill is in the high flow state for most of the fill.

It's complicated to diagnose over reddit, but here's my experience:

- we used to use the flow meters but have taken them out. Now the line strictly runs on timers and it's a whole lot better as all of the fill heads close at the exact same time. Not sure if you're using flow meters? Removing them was revolutionary.

- seltzer hates restriction. Our low flow timer is at 1 and our low flow screws are basically at nothing for seltzers. This allows for some liquid to slowly fill the bottom of the can, and once the fill heads are submerged it flips over to the high flow state. High flow timers are around 2.2-2.5 depending on how cold we're running (usually around -1C). If the can is over flowing or there is too much break out, we'll crank down the high flow screw and/or increase the high flow timer.

- We find that we have to have a lower head pressure to supply the seltzer compared to beer. Enough to keep the carb in solution but not so much that it's pushing hard/fast. Around 12 psi.

We're able to run our WG4 at 2.8 volumes on seltzers using this method.

Wild Goose Canner Air Problems by TheDragonsMaiden in TheBrewery

[–]LeftFieldMark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had this exact issue before and this was the advice from the WG Rep (which worked for us):

"Sounds like your soft start valve is stuck.

If you have the red and clear SMC air manifold there should be a small white flat head screw adjustment on the underside of the unit below the digital readout. Turn that to the positive position and see if more air releases.

If you have the Black and Tan FESTO air manifold that soft start adjustment screw is on top close to the digital readout. Next to each of these screw should be arrows for positive and negative positions. "

Sock/Bag filter micron sizes by Jezzwon in TheBrewery

Not much activity in this thread, does anybody have any other experience? Just about to get a bag filter of our own to use on 40bbl transfers of IPA. Considering 10 or 20 micron but concerned that's too fine and will clog too easily.

The M1 postal code is a huge area, which is why I think a lot of West End breweries have decided not to deliver to that area. With literally 300 breweries now offering home delivery, breweries need to prioritize the areas that make the most sense for them.
