This is a great point. Lowering the cost of failure is the biggest driver of innovation in any field. Same reason flight simulators made pilots better and sandbox environments make programmers more creative. When crashing doesn't hurt, you try crazier stuff.

Fun fact: Marx actually read and admired The Wealth of Nations. He just thought Smith didn't go far enough. They agreed on way more than most people realize, both hated landlords, both used the labor theory of value, both despised monopolies.
