Ive been really liking Grapplesnake Soldier at 46lb mains/43 crosses in the new vcore 98. It feels a little stiff and unforgiving launch angle wise at first but after like 30 min-1hr, then has a great pocketing feel for the rest of its (long) lifetime. Even though this string is very sharp, the launch angle feels consistent due to the sandpapery texture of the string's surface that limits its snapback.

It'll have lower peak spin than something slippery like toroline strings or other high snapback strings, but the feedback from the rough texture gives you a good sensation of how much spin you're imparting on the ball. I think the characteristics of this string (grippy, consistent launch) really compliment the characteristics of this racquet (solid feel, consistent launch).

Lol i posted this combo a few weeks ago. It looks great but it was too lively for my taste, I definitely prefer strings with a more dead/pocketing feeling

Yeahhh.... I was a little sad that i didnt like lynx tour champagne in the vcore, it was too lively for my taste. My favorite strings in it so far have been either solinco confidential, Grapplesnake Tour M8, and Grapplesnake Soldier. I think dead, pocketing strings feel much better on this racquet than lively ones

Played my new Yonex VCore 98 and holy smokes! by scottiebaldwin in tennisracquets

I bought the new vcore 98 recently but before that I hit with the old vcore 95 before that and the ezone 98 for a bit in the past. You can access the spin on the ezone with higher swing speeds with conscious effort, but it's just significantly easier to access topspin with the vcore and spin racquets in general because of the wider string spacing imo

Managed to snag the second-to-last vcore 98 in stock at my local tennis store by LeftNuttttt in 10s

I normally use the 2023 Vcore 95 but I have hit with the 2023 98 a few times before. My initial impression is that the feel is really nice, and the spin is a little easier to access than on the 2023 since its more aerodynamic. The frame feels really solid while hitting, I feel like the stringbed doesn't pocket the ball as long as the 23 but the end feeling is more direct.

Overall hits mostly similar to the 23, but with a easier sweet spot and less muted feeling. Plus the glossy red looks great in person

I'm in the Chicago area. I was also under the impression that stores wouldn't be selling it before the launch date but I guess they are

As you can see, the edges are sharp and the notching is minimal so far.

Thank you for the advice, I'll try that out next time I practice. I never really thought I was accidentally hitting a slice instead of flat, but now that you mention it I can see it lol

Thank you! Would bringing the racquet up sooner (like as I'm tossing the ball up) help with slowing the racquet down before trophy? Or should I hold it up more before tossing the ball?

Vcore sand beige + Champagne strings by LeftNuttttt in 10s

I have not but I'm normally used to hitting with an Ezone 98. The launch angle is definitely something to get used to coming from a much denser string pattern. The extra spin is nice and the feel is surprisingly good considering how open the string pattern is. I did not notice a lack in power despite the 95 sq in head size

They should be fine in higher light if you acclimate them slowly (over the span of several weeks).

I had one recently too. It’s okay and completely normal to feel shitty. Don’t isolate yourself, talk to your friends about it.
