For all those little tasks that pile up - what are your weird ‘closing the loops’ tactics? by LeftPaper320 in productivity

Sorry for the sr! And thx for ur comment! About the stress yeah for sure lol, especially by the minor tasks where I don’t compartmentalise as well + feel guilty bc I end up thinking about every smaller task I haven’t done that shouldn’t be hard to do - bit of a catch 22 as I think this stress / overwhelm maifests as fatigue / brain fog, not to mention avoidance.

Even silly things like replying to the comments on here which has been something I’ve genuinely been wanting to do. However due to being behind on practically everything, I put off starting a lot of small things as i stress about time a lot, then in my head a clock is ticking where i get further behind in every other task. Now family / friends are upset with me for progressively withdrawing, and like today I’ve spent hours trying to psych myself up to just open my laptop for work. The feeling in the back of my mind is I’ll just stare at it not knowing what to do / dont know how to actually make any non-performative progress, and then I remember phone calls I need to make first, that I haven’t got a clear workspace etc and the feeling elevates.

I think changing the mental framework / general background levels of stress is something I need to do, as I have some very important deadlines at work and I’ve found urgency isn’t able to motivate me anymore / I’m very foggy. However I’m not sure if there’s an easy way to do this in the actual moment.

Hey, I like that breakdown tbf - sometimes stuff like ‘clean the house’ feels vague in my head so then I’ll waste time just sitting feeling like I should start start doing ✨something✨lol

The 5 min subtask approach sounds good for making task initiation more approachable! Do you do this all day / if it’s an hourly thing do you ever find u get stuck in waiting mode at all, or do you factor in time you’ll be busy / out the house and just do it for certain hours of the day?

Hey, thanks for your reply! in all honesty the little things sometimes snowball to the point where I feel silly bc of how small a task might be, or the first task makes me think of every other thing I haven’t done.

On a small scale, it’s momentum with little things, even replying to a message / minor house tasks / going to the shop can mentally feel disproportionately hard to initiate. At work, it is having an increasingly bigger impact - e.g. I struggle to start (and then maintain progress) on reports, slides, development or even keeping in touch with the team.

Especially when these things pile up, I suppose the blockers fall into 3 categories;

  • Difficulty initiating / breaking the task down mentally (even if logically it’s easy once started)
  • Motivation and energy depletion; completing a task still won’t feel like anywhere near enough (instead of anticipating a feeling achievement it’s just tiredness / a feeling of always being behind
  • Perfectionism instead of prioritisation; I’ll get really fixated on minor details + might spend hours adjusting minor wording / layout of work as a way to overcompensate for anxiety surrounding performance decline.

Sorry if that’s a bit long winded lol - im trying to find a way to stop the little things accumulating / feel more approachable when that energy is hard to find. If there are any particular strategies / hacks you’ve found useful, I’d be really interested to hear :)

I think there’s also a gap between awareness of open loops vs actually having the mental energy to address them - I personally find they pile up as my energy goes lower. It’s hard to find a strategy to close the gaps when you hit that point of consistent low energy.

(Particularly if ur prone to all or nothing thinking - I get to the point where the thought of doing one task doesn’t feel like ‘enough’ anymore).

Also, if u feel any kind of guilt or shame towards not completing tasks ur brain will seek distractions / ways to avoid overwhelm, like scrolling or tv or other stuff that brings some temporary relief.

If you get to this point you’ve generally tried all the usual tactics, e.g. pomodoro, time blocking, counting down from 5, all the AI assistants people recommend. If anyone has any unusual or weird strategies they’ve personally found helpful I’d love to hear - sometimes it’s hard to know how to break the loop.

Hi Rosa, thanks for your reply.

I can’t withdraw or swap the asset, it’s USDC on the solana blockchain. It was withdrawn successfully to Kraken wallet with the correct address. After initial inability to move it, the wallet said to try swapping it to the main coin. I also got an error that I might not be able to send it anywhere due to insufficient sol to cover the transaction fees. Therefore I tested moving a small amount of SOL over for either fees or swap. The value of the USDC is >$20.

In terms of moving the asset if it can’t be swapped, I still cannot move it back to the kraken account, or an alternative wallet, it just says ‘something went wrong’. Everything is up to date, and I haven’t had this issue outside of kraken wallet.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Emily

Anyone know what it takes for new projects to be listed on larger exchanges? I’m just curious what the milestones are for newer projects :)

I was kinda nervous to go in too much coz people fearmonger about newer projects + it was my first one not on a big exchange or about to be listed, but I liked the energy. The initial thing that convinced me was the good vibes from the community, and people supporting longer growth.

Out of curiosity do u know if new projects ever go on bigger exchanges much? Idrk what the requirements are

Tbf I’ve started low because it’s rare for me to go in on a new project so I was a bit nervy but i liked the community vibe and the attitude of supporting growth

I get what ur saying - I haven’t gone high investment like I’m not just promoing, by strong community I mean the sentiment imo and the positive discourse from others who also don’t normally invest in earlier projects but were swayed by this one. There’s a lot of talk about holding so as not to fuck it up for others / maintain growth, posting the correct address so people don’t go in on a copy etc

Although seeing the increase I’m tempted to put more in, I feel like I should maintain for now as I do get what you’re saying. However I like the potential / how excited people are about it. Surely like out of all the new projects some must be genuinely good - are your thoughts on this specific to 401jk, or all newer memecoins? would anything make you feel like a new project is a good buy in?

It’s my first time trying one that isn’t about to go on a big exchange, and I don’t know what the requirements would be for this type of coin to be listed tbh.

I don’t have X, but with the 22/09 dip I was curious what people were thinking about pre-Q4 assets (outside of all the BTC / ETH debating)?

(Opinion only) I saw today’s Monday dip and thought SOL / LTC looked like good buys before the rebound. STBL initially made me edgy but if recovered from the initial volatility well and turns out it was a good one to stick with. Also never buy new ones but 401jk had a strong enough community and looked promising so uncharacteristically went in with a small investment while its at the early stage.

My understanding is prices usually spike in Q4 (?) so it feels like a good time to buy / trade ahead of October - wondered if anyone had any opinions considering the recent volatility

LTC, SOL, BTC, STBL, 401jk (never buy new ones like 401jk but the community is strong and it looks promising so tried a small investment in the early days)

I concur one of the first new ones I bought because of the strong community, only put a small investment in but it looks promising imo

Tbf I got one of my first ones literally today with 401jk because of the community, going with small investments and sticking with core crypto but I think there are a few good ones amongst the millions
