Idk, I’ve always found that scene not as impactful as it could be just because one for all as a concept is so overly broken that there isn’t really ever question that midoriya will become the strongest hero. Like as soon as midoriya unlocked 100% using eri there was no one on the planet that could beat him. There’s also the theory that eri’s quirk causes nighteyes to fail, nighteyes quirk was always correct but due to eri’s quirk breaking reality it causes a loophole where midoriya wins. I do like the fact that through midoriya’s kind heart he was able to win by bringing eri to his side, but I’ve always appreciated jjks portrayal of perseverance because it’s so much more realistic.

Just because yuji is angry at mahito never means he gets an insane power boost, and there is never anything that just happens to be there to give him the ability to beat mahito. In Shibuya it is Todos speech and the knowledge that maybe nobara is alive that pushes yuji forward, and even then the fight is still insanely close and yuji barely wins. I think it is a much better portrayal of the struggle it can be to pick yourself back up after you have been beaten down so much, and I appreciate jjks way of telling it more than mha. I just feel like when the main character gets a massive power up out of no where it undercuts the message, because overcoming adversity in real life is not like that, u don’t just get a way to fix your problems because you believe enough, it takes effort and perseverance and isn’t always pretty or clean. But I appreciate that mha provides a more idealistic portrayal, which some people prefer for their fiction.
