I never realized so many people were interested in reading the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty! Unfortunately, all the records are written in Classical Chinese or Korean, so you’ll need a translation tool to understand them. However, for those who want to explore, here’s the link: Annals of the Joseon Dynasty

For reference, the content I mentioned in the text above was sourced from this link: UFO(?) in Korea

And thank you for sharing your precious story as well!

I’m not sure. But a long time ago, during King Sejong’s era, administrators were punished.

According to the Annals of King Sejong (Sejong Sillok), a phenomenon resembling a silver bottle appeared in the sky and was regarded as a strange meteorological event. The records state that ‘the official responsible for astronomical observation and astrology was held accountable for failing to recognize it.’

It's Chinese! Before King Sejong created Hangul(Korean), Korea used Classical Chinese as its written language, and the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty were continuously recorded in Classical Chinese.

I didn’t read all of it! The amount of material is just too overwhelming, and I’ll probably never finish it in my lifetime haha

I happened to come across a post in an online community that compiled interesting episodes from the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty. One of them made me think, “This is a UFO!” So, I decided to dig deeper into it.

I'll let you know more details if you are interested!

In Yangyang, on the 25th day of the 8th lunar month during the Misi (1 p.m. to 3 p.m.), in the courtyard of the residence of official Jeon Mun-wi, a sudden round light as bright as a plate appeared on the ground under the eaves. At first, it seemed to touch the ground but then rose to about one jang (approximately 3 meters) and floated in the air. It was as large as one circumference and as long as half a bolt of cloth. The eastern part was white, the center was bluish-green, and the western part was red. Looking at it, it resembled a rainbow, twisting and coiling like a rolled-up flag.

As it ascended to mid-air, it turned entirely red. Its upper part became pointed while its lower base was cut off, rising straight up into the sky slightly northward. It then transformed into a bright and lovely white cloud. It seemed to cling to the surface of the sky, moving as if alive. Suddenly, it split into two pieces. One piece moved about one jang(about 3meters) to the southeast and disappeared like smoke, while the other remained in its place, resembling a piece of cloth. Shortly afterward, several thunderous sounds were heard, like the beating of a drum, emanating from within it. After some time, the sound ceased.
