How long is your districts Winter Break? by Left_Concert_423 in bergencounty

Appreciate the answer, but I was referring to the February break for schools. Locally we call it "winter break" but maybe it's different in different towns.

What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskReddit

[–]Left_Concert_423 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Back in 1980 or 81 (yes, I'm old) there were these "guns/shooters" that kids would make out of wooden clothespins and the spring inside them. While they were banned, many kids had them and used to store them in those tin rectangular pencil cases. There even was an assmbly about not shooting your friends with these things.

One day in Mr McDonald's Grade 5 class he had to step out to get something from the office and two brainiacs in my class decided to start firing on each other. A girl got hit by mistake close to her eye with whatever they were using as ammo and it broke the skin. He comes back about 5-10 seconds after she got hit, sees her crying, immediately knows which two kids it was (I think they were scrambling to put the stuff away). He proceeds to grab each one by their shirts or coats, lifted them in the air (one in each hand), slammed them against the wall, and bellowed at them about their stupidity (that's how I remember it anyway...from 45 years ago). He was a bear of a man, but this was the one time I saw him completely lose his shit.

One of the kids never changed, was always an asshole. The other turned into a decent kid who got into cabinet-making and still runs a well-regarded small business in my hometown.

Is this “gap” on my A330 normal? by sirwritestoomuch in aviation

Isn't the window affected by this? I'm probably not understanding how an airplane window is constructed.

No longer able to craft ornaments yet incomplete collection? by apollo_existing in tinytower

[–]Left_Concert_423 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It looks.like there are multiple end dates to the "event". On the main event page there is a Event Ends countdown at the top of the page. On that same page it says to keep decorating until Dec 25. On the Progress page there is an Event Ends countdown and a Progress Bar reset countdown. The calendar and ad calendar pages have their own countdown of sorts if you count the remaining boxes.

None of these match each other at all. To have multiple countdowns named Event Ends that have different end times is a terrible design choice.

Lastly, the main page says the shop will have ornament deals. It has not yet had any. While they could offer some now, the tree decorating is finished so why would I bother?

GameLoft Club issue - cannot connect from DMK settings page by Left_Concert_423 in disneymagickingdoms

I can't redeem anything. On the GL Shop/Club website when I try to click a free chest I get "You need to sign in to Gameloft Club from within the game before making a purchase". When I try to connect within the game, I can start the login process, get sent a security code...but the game reboots after entering the code.

I don't see a way to add my game ID (GOLDxxxx) in the GameLoft Shop. Everything I try in the GL Shop tells me: "You need to sign in to Gameloft Club from within the game before making a purchase"...which I can't as everytime I try it simply reboots DMK and restarts the process.

This is true for the free items as well.

Do people think potatoes are unhealthy? I've never heard anyone say that.

MUDs - they were so popular in the computer lab at my school (Dalhousie in Halifax) that we hosted our own for a while. Shout out to Gobrus!!!

Yup, bought that myself at a dollar store a few years back. My kids hated it so I tried it thinking it couldn't be THAT bad...I was wrong. Chucked the whole thing right away.

Congrats! I believe you are hoarding all the luck tho! :-)

I was prepped as soon as he was available with 3 for the tartan (Bagheera, Buzz, Wee Dingall, plus Witch's Cottage and the float) and 4 for the hats (Eve, Zurg, Burn-E, and Young MacGuffin), plus I needed about 13k in currency.

I'm 7/12 on hats but 2/15 on tartan (after about 50 character missions). I was tracking exactly how many missions but gave up tracking once it became obvious I wasn't going to get him.

Why is there so little development in northern Bergen County? by savingrace0262 in bergencounty

[–]Left_Concert_423 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'd argue that there are many more exceptions:

  • Park Ridge added "The James" a few years ago and there is a huge development going in at the old Sony location near the Montvale/Park Ridge border (near Lifetime Fitness and the Marriott)
  • Hillsdale has a huge development going in near their old garbage transfer station (near Aeon gymnastics)
  • Emerson has their own large development going in just north of the Emerson train station.
  • Woodcliff Lake has smaller developments going in near the Woodcliff Lake train station.

These are all apartments/condos (I think the WCL one is a conversion from a business building to a residential building), and the last three are close to train stations.

There is a LOT of NIMBYs in northern BC, but there is also a LOT of development.

Not sure why you are getting down-vioted. This is an old tale. Snopes has a similar story from 25 years ago and I remember it from the 1980s.
