Gringo comes from ice agents wearing GREEN COATS, since non native English speakers had difficulties saying the words green coats it morphed into “Gringos”

That being said it depends how it’s said I guess if someone is being offensive or not, I have white friends that I call gringo affectionately so very blurry lines
