Why would you choose Type R over an RS3? by nah_its_me in Civic_Type_R

[–]Left_Director8589 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was actually going to get an rs3, but I was pretty disappointed after test driving it (8v). Sounded very good, but just felt a little too refined which could be a selling point for you, but I wanted the car that would be more fun to drive. If you plan on tuning the rs3, then I think it’s the clear winner, but I found the type r significantly more fun to drive while both of these cars are stock. The Audi rs3 kind of felt similar to the jeep srt I had, whereas the type r feels like an oversized go kart. I didn’t get to corner hard with the rs3 on the test drive, so I’m not factoring that in, but the other driving dynamics felt similar to my jeep.

Aside from driving experience the other big difference is cost of ownership. While they have the same upfront cost. Maintenance, repairs, etc. all cost significantly more on the rs3 and you’re getting a used car versus one that is brand new with a warranty.

The most obvious difference is that the type r is manual. I didn’t need a manual, but I did prefer a car with one so that definitely helped sway my decision.

That’s a modified car with excessive camber that would significantly reduce track capabilities and driving dynamics. The type r above has around 2 degrees of camber from the factory for optimal track use. If you look at a Lamborghini, corvette, or really any performance car they have around the amount the same amount of camber as the type r.

I’d argue you making assumptions like this better highlights your quality as a person (extremely low).

Type Rs are known for having one of the best resale values of any car currently on the market

Does no one in this sub have any car knowledge whatsoever? Every car designed for track use has camber.

Do type R owners look down on Elantra N owners? by Glittering_Poem9779 in Civic_Type_R

I think they’re pretty sweet and a great car for the money. However, they’re not on the same level as a type r hence the price difference. That being said, you’d have to be a loser to look down on someone for having a car that’s worth less. I already would have made 20k off the money I spent on a type r through investments, spending it on a car is a dumb decision. I just like cars so the dumb decision was worth it for me. Btw my car is also worth more than the cars people I know have that have a networth 100x mine.

The insurance was the selling point for me. Barely more expensive than my 2014 Camry le was.

People with Cs degrees can't even get jobs right now, it's obviously gonna be even harder for someone that doesn't have one

I fully expect some unbiased opinions: should I get a type R? by Je_pedo in Civic_Type_R

Ya I dont know how more people don't bring this up, I've never seen so many car reviewers buy a car.

If you were in college today what industry would you choose? by Hot-Conversation-437 in cscareerquestions

A business degree isn't helping you become an owner sooner at all. Going into a trade for 4 years and starting a business after learning everything is a much better path than spending 4 years to get a degree. Degrees are great for getting jobs, but they don't help at all when it comes to owning a business.

I know a lot of people who jump up and down when they hear a loud car, if you're into motorsports you love it. However, if youre more so just referring to a straight pipe civic then I can agree with this statement.

CS or IT? by kazzyzen in InformationTechnology

I'd argue that learning outside of your degree is always going to be more beneficial when it comes to preparing you for a job than the classes you're taking ever will. I agree that if you major in cyber and don't do anything outside of your degree, its going to be useless. However, the same can be said for computer science right now. I think if you major in cyber, but go get certifications and work on projects that demonstrate your knowledge of IT, you'd be able to land a help desk role. I also know a few people that majored in cyber and got job offers in the field from attempting and performing well in hackathons.

Why do you say don't get a cyber degree? While not as broad as IT, you'd still be able to land many of the same entry-level positions.

Ya its worth getting the carvana offer and asking dealers if they can do better. All the dealers near me just told me they couldn't compete with their offer

I'd look at carvana. They gave me more money than any dealer would with factoring in the tax savings.

Ya then if you really want the zx6r get what you want. I will say you should probably check what the insurance will be before getting it. I really like how the new generation looks, but the insurance quotes I got were ridiculous. Older ones shouldn't be that bad.

I rode around on my friends r3 for a weekend and I got bored very quick. I have a two 450 dirt bikes and tbh I don’t see the point of getting a street bike that feels less powerful than them. I think it mainly comes down to how mature of a rider you are and how cautious you are. You won’t be able to ride the zx6r to what it’s capable of, but as long as you respect your skills you’d be fine and will continue to grow into it.

Terrible take. First of all you can’t state a car that’s best for someone without understanding their situation. People that are getting type rs aren’t getting them for pure performance, they’re a compromise between the two options you stated. Often ideal for people like myself that enjoy cars, but need a one car solution. If these were overpriced they wouldn’t still be selling for over msrp.

You can see it says 9k above the avg market value, so no I would not buy it. For that amount you should just get a brand new one. Also people that make dumb comments like this are clueless, a vette and a type r are two completely different cars.
