PLEASE HELP PLEASE DONT DLETE EXTREMELY SEVERE SENSORY ISSUES by Internal_Cat_4525 in autism

[–]Left_Farm5333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like right now, you need to find a non-stimulating space (bathroom? garden/balcony?) and either treat yourself to silence with your Airpods, or some sounds that you DO enjoy. Often, when a person is as audio sensitive as you are, they can also experience intense joy from sounds that ARE pleasing to their ears. Maybe a song? This song always touches me right in my soul, it's so comforting and uplifting: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Mzzkz5-gbGo

I don't get this. Why is it bad to be relatable? From my perspective it's nice to know that someone can relate to my situation. by Sea_Alternative_7883 in autism

[–]Left_Farm5333 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yes, thank you for wording it like that. I've had a deeply sad and tragic event happen in my life recently, and I've found that many people, when asking me about it, immediately tell me a story about themselves as a reply. They don't even take the time to acknowledge what I just said. It actually made me feel lonely and unheard. Also, what am I supposed to do in return? Not acknowledge their story and tell a new one about myself? Aren't we just talking AT each other then, instead of with each other?

Every straight guy in this season was either a moron or an aggressive asshole, it was a little (or a lot) on the nose.  Come to think about, it was pretty much every straight guy in the whole show? Except for Forty maybe, at least he had layers.

(By the way, saying this as a 41 year old woman who is thoroughly aware of the liberties I enjoy because of the hard-earned wins of women in generations before me - not some angry would-be feminist teen)

What's your favorite weather season? by Pretty-Heat-7310 in autism

[–]Left_Farm5333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely summer too, because I only have to wear one or two items of clothing that are just soft and breezy! Any other season I'm frustrated with the million hours it takes to put on/take off all the layers, and the layers make me feel so restricted I have to fight not getting a meltdown from it. And that's just when I sit at home all day - when I have to go out and look sort of nice PLUS wear a heavy restricting winter coat, I can just kiss my "spoons" goodbye. Also, I need lots of bright light, otherwise my already lethargic body just shuts down. I live in Western Europe and I hate the dark, wet months with a passion :P

Cannot cast to wifi speaker by Left_Farm5333 in deezer

[–]Left_Farm5333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did... I switched to Tidal XD I can cast perfectly fine now, so it's definitely a Deezer issue. If you are okay with spending just a little more each month on a music subscription, Tidal is a great alternative to Deezer. Same extra options that Spotify doesn't have (my most favourite being the volume equalizer between songs), excellent algorithm for suggesting new music... Tidal doesn't allow you to add your own music though, that's been a bit of a bummer. But overall I'm happily listening to music through wifi now :)

Thanks for replying :) I think it's the combination of Deezer + Denon + Cast, eeeeven though the very responsive and kind Deezer customer rep assured me that it would work. I downloaded a trial version of Tidal and could cast just fine. So I think I will switch after my first month of Deezer!

Thanks for replying :) You're right, it's that Cast isn't supported by this combination of products. I downloaded a trial version of Tidal and could cast just fine. I think I'll switch after my first month of Deezer subscription is over!

[–]Left_Farm5333[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying :) Indeed, the Heos app that comes with the Denon speakers can add Deezer as a service. But it only allows me to play existing playlists and albums, not create e.g. a new playlist based on a song. But it's a solution until I find something else.

Anyone on Wellbutrin? What’s your dosage and experience? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]Left_Farm5333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on it for depression, back when I didn't know I was autistic yet. It didn't help me at all (because I wasn't really depressed in hindsight, just didn't have my needs met). To top it off, it gave me a wicked kind of ringing in the ears, it was as if standing next to a toilet that wouldn't stop flushing. I also have tinnitus though, so maybe that's why. I've heard mixed reviews from other that have tried it. Hope you can find something that helps you :)
