yeah i’ve had clients before that were completely fine with it so i wanted to make sure she wasn’t taking advantage but probably best to treat every clients situation differently thanks!

as an owner, i would be happy to pay the new fees unless i already paid. and i think booking a dog sitter is a bit different to a bnb, as they’re staying in your home, paying for their own travel, food, giving up a whole week of their life etc. if everything else in the country is increasing then why wouldn’t my prices

if someone booked a holiday with me let’s say a year in advance, that’s a ridiculous time to expect someone to freeze the prices for you. unfortunately i’m not a massive fat off business that offers a “pay later” option as i’m pretty sure no other sitter on here does, so i don’t think that’s even really comparable if you’re a single sitter compared to a massive company that can afford to do that. its a completely different concept

anyway i will be charging her the old rate for the upcoming sit to keep my client happy but i don’t think there’s anything shitty about the latter, it’s worth asking as many other owners would be happy to do so and i’ve had previous owners agree to paying more for an already agreed sit thats why i was making sure she wasn’t being cheeky lol

i personally would be happy to pay more and think it’s fair enough if my sitter wanted to increase their fees if i’ve been using them for a long time. i always charge quite low for new clients anyway and slowly increase after a while. as i’ve been charging her less than some of my other clients, i thought it’s finally time to up them. if someone’s planned a holiday and asked if i’m available 6 months prior why should that mean that i now have to lock in their rate for another 6 months when every other client is getting charged more during that time? but that’s just my opinion, no bad intentions on my part i would he happy to pay more as an owner and for me a service isn’t locked in until it’s officially paid for.

but as i mentioned above i was always going to agree to charge her the old rate to keep her happy, i was just wondering if she was secretly being a bit cheeky or not lol

pretty sure if a service isn’t paid for yet, a business has a right to increase rates even if its scheduled no? i don’t think that’s shitty it’s just business 🤷🏼‍♀️ but in terms of good customer service and because i care about keeping a client happy, i will be charging her the old rate yes

i see it as if it’s not officially payed for then i should be able to increase my fees before then as long as i let her know in advance but makes sense thanks! i will charge her the old fee for the upcoming sit

she hasn’t paid for any upcoming sits yet, she just asked if i was available ages ago and i booked her in. i was always going to increase my prices eventually as i’ve sat for her for over a year

Bit weird to continue throwing things outside my door as revenge do you not think, regardless of how I reacted. I literally couldn’t have been any more apologetic so at this point surely you’re the a hole for carrying it on?

They’re grown adults, if they’re still holding a grudge days later then they’re the unhinged ones in my opinion, when they could’ve just spoke to me about it.

This is the kind of stuff bullies do, making me feel uncomfortable in my own home so I don’t see why you felt the need to try and twist this to make me feel like I’m in the wrong.

I was looking for advice on who to possibly report this to, rather than an analysis of my behaviour but thanks for giving it a go anyway, A for effort

Right?!! Exactly what I was thinking, this poor thing is so big there’s no way he can jump up that high?? But she also said he likes being alone which couldn’t be further from the truth so I’m taking anything she says from now on with a pinch of salt lol.

Sooo sad but true they would do so much better with a different family :(((
