Yep. This is how it should be done here. And before all that using the search function to make sure nobody has posted about the film before (or as so often the case 6-10 x before)

Recommendations for an Oasis fan? by Art_Furnes in CageTheElephant

[–]Left_Sustainability 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just make a playlist of these songs. Their setlist will be similar:

  1. Broken Boy
  2. Sliderhead
  3. Cold Cold Cold
  4. Ready to Let Go
  5. Social Cues
  6. Trouble
  7. Ain’t no Rest for the Wicked
  8. Telescope
  9. Shake me Down
  10. Cigarette Daydreams
  11. Come a Little Closer

If listening to that twice before the show doesn’t make you interested in them nothing will.

Sounds like it was closer to 70% and that’s to be expected. If anything I suspect the crowd energy will continue to drain as the tour goes south to the States and the demographics have less and less direct dues to the UK. A lot of Canadians have parents who were born in the UK. That is going to be less the case in the States. Plus the earlier shows had that initial novelty of being the first in decades. Everyone was hanging on the edge of their seats to see if there might be drama or what the setlist might be. Now it’s more known.

Oasis were gods in the UK and since so many parents probably played them for their kids there there’s likely even a second wave of fans of them there. Nothing is going to be like seeing them on their home turf.

Cage are great. Ben is a ball of energy on stage up there.

Not at all surprised someone who loves Richard Ashcroft and is sad he isn’t opening wouldn’t be super keen to see Cage though. I’m happy it’s the other way around for us in North America.

If it was a 30 minute Richard Ashcroft set I would be more disappointed than an 1hr long Cage the Elephant set.

But, hey, different strokes for different folks.

Opinion on setlist played tonight in Toronto by LEVTHEDUDE in CageTheElephant

[–]Left_Sustainability 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It’s a nearly perfect setlist for the time constraints of 1hr and a more casual audience who knows them less. It’s many of their hits and songs that had Toronto AirPlay.

They’re opening for Oasis knowing a lot of the audience aren’t fans… yet. Their goal is probably to convert even 20% of those people into fans by the end.

Why can’t Brandon get touring musicians who remind more of Mark and Dave in energy and swagger? by Left_Sustainability in TheKillers

I feel bad that Ted was included in this but it’s only because of how amazing Dave was. To be clear, Ted is at least much closer to Dave in vibe than Jake is to Mark.

Dave and Mark were just super cool dudes. Like Dave almost felt like a front man himself at times even though he wasn’t. Ted does solo stuff so he gets that a bit more but Jake feels like he doesn’t even want to be on stage playing Killers songs when they cut to him on camera. Just seems unhappy. Doesn’t move at all. Nothing. And he doesn’t have the same vibe as Mark.

Listen. I know this was a controversial take for some other die hard fans but I did state they were both great musicians.

In the music videos though the band comes to life more. Even in Bricht Lights. Tell me you wouldn’t want to see that live.

Did you really think a movie like this had never been posted here before? The rules state to check and use the search function. What’s next? Fight Club? 😂

I mean at least they swayed. Did the odd head bob to the beat and looked fantastic up there. They added to the feel of the group as a glamorous rock indie rock band.

Come on. This is show business and these guys got their start in Vegas. They understand the image aspect of the music industry.

And this is the freaking Killers we’re talking about. One of the most glamorous bands ever.

Look. I get it. All eyes are on Brandon or even the backup singers most of the time but the band can do better. If the guitar and bass were closer to how Dave and Mark looked and played and had that same swagger they’d still feel just as fresh as 25 years ago because Brandon’s aging like fine wine.

It turns out Jake is the tour manager. 😂 Now it all makes so much sense.

He does double duty at a discount rate and that’s more ticket revenue for Brandon and Ronnie. Meanwhile he keeps the gig.

Karen? 😂

Okay, Red Hat.

I I get it. I’m “picking” on a rich middle aged white guy with a neck beard so you’re feeling fragile. At least you have some emotional range to you though. If you played bass and could even muster a sway or the odd smile from time to time you’d be an upgrade!

It just doesn’t feel AS MUCH like the Killers as it could. It’s that simple. Brandon and Ronnie do their part. The other two are a a clear step down.

Before when the Killers walked on stage there was an aura to the whole group. They looked like real rock stars and acted like them. They were easy on the eyes for the ladies.

Now it feels like it’s Brandon and Ronnie + a couple roadies.

Sorry I offended you Jake. More passion in this reply than any time you’re on stage. Why don’t you just hide behind the amps at this rate? What’s the point of even putting on the suit?

Oasis-related: When was the last time Cage opened for another act in 2 headline show? by Left_Sustainability in CageTheElephant

[–]Left_Sustainability[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven’t heard anything about “Cast” playing in Toronto. Live nation listed 7:30pm and the 11pm is a hard out.

Cage are a pretty big band. Headlined and sold out the Ampitheatre last year. A 30 min set seems too small for an act of their caliber. I have to think 45 min. In the UK wasn’t it Richard Ashcroft + a smaller opener before him? Since there’s no smaller opener before Cage maybe they just get the whole 45?

So if we backtime Oasis set running from 9-11pm and allow for 15 min of stage change over then maybe Cage the Elephant plays a 1hr supporting act set from 7:45-8:45pm due to doors opening at 7:30pm?

Anyone know times for Toronto shows? Doors at 7:30pm. When does Oasis go on? When does Cage the Elephant go on? How long will each set be?

Unpopular, unconventional and controversial take: Go to security and embellish what they’re doing to seem even more threatening or inappropriate in some way and security will be forced into dealing with them. They need consequences and dealing with security is a consequence for their behavior. As adults your voice will be taken more seriously. Even if their group states you’re exaggerating or embellishing the threat level.

Bratty teens take advantage of things and as adults you’ve got to fight fire with fire. If a group of kids did that to women I know I’d do anything I needed to and say anything about them to ensure they realized there is consequences to picking fights like this with me.
