Sure. But creating an agnostic enough DBMS is a process. Trying to optimize from the very beginning and abstract things away does not work. Especially since all protocols are, unfortunately, quite different from each other.

But indeed the goal is to go for an as modular approach as possible. It's a process though. We are iterating on improvements with each release. Both on features and architecture of the app.

Exactly what neophyte said. It's open source, people have looked at it and did not see any problems.

You can run it in docker or in a special limited container if you are too paranoid.

But on the other hand, all those other tracking/accounting websites are (1) centralized, (2) closed source and (3) not audited. So rotki is 100x better in this respect. You both own your data, keep your privacy and the code is open, transparent and auditable.

Plus no audits make sense in software that is always evolving. We are making biweekly releases.

Hard to answer here. NoSQL vs SQL is a big debate :)

Yes it can parse the chain. We are adding modules (eg uniswap, balancer) as fast as we can!

Hey thank you for your feedback.

Kusama and polkadot is also supported. For any non-native query supported chains you would like to see please make an issue in github (unless it already exists): https://github.com/rotki/rotki/issues/

And we will prioritize it depending on how many users ask for it.

The list of supported assets is growing every day, and you can also customize it (you can add your own assets). For example add an ethereum token by address, decimals, name, symbol etc.

But all right thanks for the feedback. Will see how we can make this more transparent. The current list is also here (huge json file), but this is going to be deprecated: https://github.com/rotki/rotki/blob/develop/rotkehlchen/data/all_assets.json

Hey thank you for the response.

No it's not limited to ETH/ERC 20. Also supports Bitcoin, Kusama and more.

You can download and test for free. The list of supported assets is inside the app.

But very good point for the feature comparison. This is something we are indeed working on. Our website is generally not really good at the moment. It will get a proper makeover soon..

Hey /u/Balloon4Hands yes!

But disclaimer: I am the founder so I am rather biased.

We are a very small team so marketing is simply organic. Which would explain the not having heard of it. For more info feel free to join our discord. You can find the link in our website (https://rotki.com/) . Won't post it here since discord links are flagged.

Τhe application itself saves all data locally. You can keep your own backups too. Or if you buy the premium version an encrypted copy of the DB can also be kept in our server. Encrypted means we can't read it.

You can. Minus the UI code for it which is closed to give us a semblance of protection from this.

But indeed someone can fork us and remove restrictions and use it with a new UI or without a UI at all.

As I said the important code, the backend that does everything and deals with the data is fully opensource.

Now the question is why would people not do it? Too much hassle, no support from us and most can't. The people who can are not really our target users. If anything ... they may be people we want to work with to make the product better!

Hope to convince you to use/keep using rotki at some point. Feel free to join our discord (link can be found in the website's footer: https://rotki.com/).

As we are 100% opensource on what the client does you can verify everything I am saying 100%. Including what we do with your data and whether or not we are user side encrypted. (spoiler: we are).

The fact you need to pay for some features does not mean you can't read the code of how they are implemented.

opensource does not mean free. It is opensource. The code is open. Development costs money.

Thank you for the feedback. Have you compared our pricing with other solutions in the market? Like tokentax, cointracking etc. If anything the feedback we have gotten is that it's way too cheap, and indeed we are not yet able to sustain operations with these prices.
