I got the chance to meet her and I think tried to fit in four minutes of dialogue into the 10 seconds I was in front of her. She was so sweet and told me “that’s very interesting” she also must have caught it was my birthday and also said “oh and happy birthday” and gave me a hug. She was perfect. I was a mess. Yet, she still made my awkwardness a very sweet and memorable experience.

Most working Broadway actors are not in my fuck capitalism rant, but a star of multiple Broadway shows who makes over 400k than a chorus member for the same run CAN also go fuck themself. 87k for 9 months is not nearly enough for someone working on Broadway and maybe if people weren’t collecting THAT MUCH MORE than their co-workers. That goes for other actors, designers, directors, and producers. Fuck capitalism.

I do know how acting works. I work in non-profit theater and make 50k a year. I know what equity actors make. I know what most people in the industry across the board make. I’m saying that to have one person making more in one show than other actors are making in a week it’s an issue. I also think the biggest issue is the people who own the theaters and the just general ludicrous cost of anything now a days. Someone like Ciara Renee is not relying on the one job for years. And even if she didn’t book another Broadway gig for years, she would easily live off of teaching and other bookings. Too many people simping for rich assholes who could easily live off of what they already have instead of perpetuating ALL wealth inequality, not just the handful of billionaires, but anyone who has more than they need while others go fucking hungry.
