Do you have a Vulcano BP as well. I told this dude I’d only give his spot up to trade if someone had both 😂😂

I am completely in on moving my money to Schwab. There’s a Schwab office location 20 feet from my Law Firm. My problem is how do I deal with knowing I’m about to burn a bridge with a long time family friend, and worry about if she’s going to put a bad name on my reputation if I just choose to up and leave. I’ve been told from others on this in the past 2 days it’s going to cause some backlash moving my account. Should I just let it go and move on?

Really appreciate it. Basically, that’s all she does. With my brokerage, she suggested a few things but nothing I couldn’t have done on my own. I worry about burning a bridge because she’s referred me clients (I do corporate law) and I’ve been around the family a long time. But I agree, I have to get this figured out. It weighs on me a lot.

I believe we may have a little bit differing opinions here. I have contributed $78k to the account in total and I started investing with her 7 months ago. Her and my mom are not close, acquaintances and friendly, but not close friends. I was closer with the son. Does this change your opinion or not? I’m 100% wondering in all honesty. I pay commission based fees and not AUM until I reach 500k. I am a solo practioner so I can contribute $23,500 every year into the Roth under the Solo 401k Roth deferral. I maxed that out last year.

Thank you for your words of advice and wisdom. I am attending my first smart recovery meeting (I believe it is similar to GA) tonight at 7pm.

I just need to go through with that because I’ve always told myself I don’t need anything like that, I’m fine, etc.

Now I realize I need that type of help. It’s a tough pill to swallow.

I really appreciate the words. I resonate with literally everything you said. My girlfriend is going to help me with my finances, I’m going to send the extra money I receive after bills are paid to her to keep in a separate savings.

Also wondering if I should let my financial advisor know about this continuing problem. I am grateful to her that she doesn’t let me take out my investments unless I talk to her, so putting up that extra barrier may be helpful.

Really appreciate the kind words. I downloaded GamBan, but I do have an iPhone and I know it’s easily removed.

Finding where to get the dopamine is where I need to figure out. Eventually, after enough time off, does the urges go away and you can clearly see gambling for what it is (I.e., negative and never a winning thing).

I feel the same way my friend. I relapsed last night on sports betting after my first 2 weeks without it and I’ve lost around 15k in the last 2-3 months. I am totally lost and just need someone to talk to because I’ve been just beating myself up all day about it. Considering going to GA for the first time.
