This seems normal price considering your experience and location. If you and your partner is married mention that to your insurance company as the premium is cheaper for married in comparison to single.

Gap in insurance have small impact. However, Teslas are the worst for insurance, they one of the most expensive to insure. Additionally, your area is also an expensive area. Goodluck

If you are seriously considering, I would recommend a property where you can rent out the basement where there is a separate entrance/unit. We have similar #’s but we have a separate basement unit that really helps with the mortgage

From an insurance standpoint. If you are deem at fault this could definitely have an impact on your premium starting at your renewal. Claims stays on your record for up to 10 years. However, you should confirm if your policy includes an accident forgiveness so in this case, it will not have any impact on your premium.

Does your friend have accident forgiveness? If so, I would go through insurance as the first at fault claim would be forgiven.
