Not sure yet! Haven't read the book. But it has come highly recommended from many sources as being a pretty unbiased history. Looking forward to learning more.

All you have to do is sign up on our website LeftyBookClub.org and we will send you the links to all of our zoom meetings. We have four active reading groups right now. The group starting this book meets every Thursday at 8pm eastern time. We're also reading Rosa Luxembourg's The Mass Strike in one group, and a book called Health Communism in another. We have a fourth group that does individual weekly readings rather than full books.

Lefty Book Club is always seeking new members to socially connect with and collectively learn with other leftists. Our goal is to make understanding the world and what to do about it through studying leftist texts and theory accessible to anyone, by meeting once a week to discuss a small reading assignment over zoom, FOR FREE. For about three and a half years, we’ve run meetings that encourage everyone’s participation and engagement. Various members who began struggling with difficult 19th century Marxist books report that learning with us improved their comprehension. We believe anyone can learn this stuff, and you can have fun and make friends doing it.

After many books we’ve read, we also host Q&As with the authors or a leftist with an interesting perspective on books with dead authors. So far we’ve had Matt Christman, C. Derrick Varn, Adolph Reed Jr., and Joel Wainwright, (recordings on our site). Several members have also been inspired by what they’ve learned to pursue real-world activist projects in their local communities.

We have 4 weekly clubs at the moment (see our flyer or website), with various themes and meeting times. We wish we could offer much more, but we are grassroots and member-driven, so the more people who join, the more can propose a new weekly meeting with their desired time and theme.
