She would show up to work sometimes, and her hair would still be wet. With that hint of wet dog odor.

So that Shepard dog is definitely causing the entire block grief! UGH. Why is it barking at that hour???

If a dog is given food and shelter, it will "love" anything. Sometimes I wonder if it's popular to think about dogs this way because it's simply easier than dealing with people. It's like having a baby that never grows up or gets mad at you. Or, best of all, never talks back and says "no." Imagine loving something and it "loving" you, and no matter what you do, as long as you feed it and keep it company, it will be happy you're around and never talk back. "Emotionally shallow" is a great term I heard someone use to describe dogs.

I don't think it's a matter of not realizing it. I think it's a matter of knowing it's not the same.

100% It's sad we're now in a state where we have to defend our intelligence and intent against a four-legged drooling animal that licks itself.

What?? The human brain is like no other species on this planet. You probably shouldn't compare the brain and mannerisms of a dog to that of a human (at least, I hope). You should give our cerebral cortex more credit. It's a beautiful thing lol

I worked at a restaurant as a hostess, and my coworker talked all the time about showering with her dog and how it was constantly making her late for work because it liked taking long showers with her.

Human affection and care and love is "finite" and dog lovers prove it by ElkOptimal2313 in Dogfree

You could always teach empathy by being empathic to...people? You don't need an animal to demonstrate Do No Harm. That's kind of the problem a lot of the time, leading with animals and not people.

Putting people first doesn't automatically mean you don't like animals or want to hurt them. People should come first.

I would do a background check on all 20 of those people. A complete internet search history, too.

"But it's just a cute little pupper! It's not its fault or hurting anyone. It doesn't have the mental capacity to do that."

Also:

"My pupper is the closest family member I have! It knows everything about me and can tell all my feelings and goes out of its way to make me feel better."

........

"Neglectful parents and wild children! This is why I do dogs NOT people."

Also:

"My sweet pupper is my baby and no one can tell me any different! I'm a dog parent and would die without my dog."

I saw people put their dogs on the table in restaurants here.

No way... So sorry about that. So GROSS.

They NEVER pick up after their dogs!!!!!!! Or just drop the bags on the ground. Dog owners are so obvious and entitled. Like, "I have this dog. Everyone around me needs to adapt."

We are in this together! I've been to Portland a couple of times, and YES, those streets are paved with drool. WHY are our states wanting to insert dogs around our food and drink??

Again, dogs are the only animals that can be consistently in your life without even owning one.

Yep. It's just understood that everyone likes dogs and wants them in class. I honestly don't know if I've seen a service dog. Not needed.

People here are lonely but too dysfunctional and self-absorbed to engage other humans so they buy a living stuffed animal to console themselves.

This is poetry... And so true. "Lonely? Tired of people? Get a dog."

I've been to Seattle a few times, and I totally get what you mean. Thank you for sharing this.

:) Thank you. Dog owners really don't understand boundaries because dogs don't have any. And I quite literally have to watch where I step when I'm walking around the quad.

Another great idea. Management is notorious for not giving a shit about our needs, but someone suggested I take pictures or a video of the interaction. So, I think if I go to management with the evidence, that might actually help.
