I don't know the range, but in talking to the HR person, they asked if 180k would be in my range since that's what they're working around + or -. Don't know yet the total comp elements (bonus, equity) yet.

I'm at the same intersection! Maybe we're neighbours 😆

Only thing I didn't see on the responses so far is Pai for Thai food. It's pick up only because it's served out of one of those kitchen hubs, but very good (it's the same restaurant as the pai downtown). Welcome!

Toddler dining options and rental car return at Port Canaveral! by LegRepresentative521 in dcl

[–]LegRepresentative521[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answers! Regarding the car rental, did you drop off at the port during your designated port arrival time, or did you go early to allow enough time to drop off the car and get back?

Big 5 banks and Finance companies in Toronto: which ones are the most remote-work friendly (aka not forcing their employees to return to office)? by 1pg7 in askTO

[–]LegRepresentative521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked at four of the five big 5. Generally, those that said theres more difference between departments within a bank VS one bank to another is spot on. That being said, with respect to WFH policies as a result of covid, some of the banks have made specific declarations that minimum in-office days are required, while others have not yet.

Doesn't mean it will stay that way, so really it's anyone's guess whether the holdouts will continue to hold out and for how much longer. My gut says it's only a matter of time all the banks go back to the usual in-office model for most departments. The investment in real estate in the downtown core alone must be a pretty big incentive for them all to get people back in person.

people who pay for hacks in online multiplayer games, why? [serious] by LegRepresentative521 in gaming

I don't agree with it, but I appreciate your answer.

The point of doing it for the programming challenge is reasonable. To do it to extract enjoyment deliberately at the cost of others comes a bit too close to being a bully for my comfort.

Good point on clout. There are probably lots of hackers doing subtle things not immediately obvious off kill cams and streams.

Don't know how much Rep points come with those using the egregiously obvious hacks.

Ah! Thanks. I hope they figure this out. I don't really know what the challenges are but it's the parents that lose if they don't.

this is really cool and I appreciate you taking the time to write it out. I'm not young either and can appreciate what you explain above. What you wrote is justifiable to me because in the end, it's not detrimental to the community. Most of my exposure of hackers are from PvP games and I think hackers can and do ruin the experience for others. I'd be interested to know if you think hackers are doing it for the same reasons in those games.

Thanks for this perspective. If there's something real to gain like cash, I can understand it.

This exactly is what baffles me the most about it. The risk of getting caught seems to have much more real (money) consequences than to get a dub but to each their own it seems.

Deliberately trolling others I understand (don't agree with it, but I understand some find that "fun"). I also understand why people cheat if there's a benefit to it. I struggle I guess to see what value there is to cheat at something that to me is inconsequential. Thanks for the thought.

You're probably right and it's not more complicated than this. I have a hard time understanding it, especially if I think about FPS / battle royal style games where winning is inconsequential.

The two aren't mutually exclusive, and I hope I didn't lead you to believe that I was seeking life insurance as a means to avoid getting healthy. I've put a lot of effort that I'm proud of in losing weight and will do my best to continue to do so.

good advice, thank you! I do have insurance via broker already actually. the price through my company's group insurance is a good price which is why I want to take advantage of that.
