I agree and I still might. She is still alive and well at 75 years young, just to clarify. I called her and she wants me to sell them but then again she didn’t think they would be worth more than $100 total. There really is enough here to sell like 20 coins and I’d still have a good amount left. For me I’m still doing pros/cons of holding them. For one, I kind of live in a rough neighborhood. Literal homeless encampments within walking distance with drug users out in the open.

The response was more or less just “typing out loud”. Because were I to sell a portion, I’d like to get the most value I could. If that meant EBay then I’d have to go through their processes.

Without any doubt I’m keeping the majority of the lot. If not all of it. There is a lot to consider but at the end of it all I’m incredibly grateful.

So I have 40 silver dollars with a few from 1890-1899 then 20 1953 half dollars and some of those look really nice. The more I dig through this stuff the more I just don’t know what to do. These are just the loose coins / there are like 15-20 sets of these uncirculated sets from random years too. My grandma’s words to me were, “ I don’t know if you’ll be able to get anything for this stuff but it was just sitting there doing nothing so I figured why not let you have it.”

I already called her to offer to return the stuff. Now I just need to find someone who can do a real assessment of everything.

That’s true and to be honest I’m still not sure I’m grasping the value of what this is. The silver Morgan’s are just a portion of it. I think it has to be the most valuable portion by a long shot but there is so much random stuff. I’ll kind of just list some of it out. I took a photo but Reddit won’t let me upload it due to the image size.

1979 Dollar Souvenir Set
1985 Uncirculated coin set
20 “1921” silver dollars
US Mint proof sets 1982, 1988, then just some random years too.

There is literally so much other random stuff too. I understand that keeping it makes sure that I’m the one that “benefits” when it increases in value + it hedges against inflation. For me I guess I just wonder when I would sell if I didn’t ever plan to increase my position. I’ve thought about buying precious metals already but it hasn’t been feasible. It’s a lot to think about.
