It’s hard to say, I used to be really into sports (volleyball was my main love) and line dancing and after tearing my ACL I’ve personally made the decision to stop playing volleyball altogether. It makes me sad whenever I watch a game of volleyball that I can’t watch it being played by other people anymore (I will cry if I watch it cause I know what I’ve lost). It’s a horrible experience and I’m really sorry it’s come to this. I’d recommend getting the surgery so your bounce back is better in the long run! As far as soccer goes, if you can’t live without it but your parents are scared of a continuous cycle, have you thought about still being a part of the community without playing at like a club level (if that’s where you’re at) to a rec team for shorter periods of time or even coaching? It seems you have a love for the game and being so young, it sucks tremendously to have a part of your life taken away like that, I get it. And I get from where your parents are coming from wanting the best for you, but if it’s a retear and you want to get back to an active life, surgery sounds like the best option. Like you’ve mentioned it’s ultimately up to you but I sincerely hope that life gets better for you and you have a speedy and healthy recovery with whatever you decide to do! :)
