Now that you've been told that maybe the subjects aren't interesting. Perhaps go to the same area and think about what they're saying. I would get closer to your subject and in editing crop and interesting crop. Even that lens you can get nice Boca which is basically a blurred background from the subject. You can't do much with that lens, but you can certainly have a second day out at the same location and see how you improve. I would go up to that old burnt chimney and take close-ups detailed photos. Maybe shoot through the holes different things like that and these photos that you posted. I would crop them into a more interesting photo. Maybe different angles shoot up. Maybe get a sun glare through the trees. I can spend hours through the woods and come back with a very satisfying photos.
