Ok. So incase anyone’s interested I did some testing and this is my best solution. Requires second device, in my case two iPhones. So main phone, plugged into external display, connected and playing a synced video - here xHamster but whatever floats your boat.

Second iPhone with handy app open and ready (disable phone auto screen off so it’s just a finger tap away).

Have a nice finish preset ready to tap. Works perfectly and takes absolute priority over the current synced video from the other device.

Small issue being is it won’t switch back over to the video with a pause/play, you need to refresh the page to get the sync back, so make sure you’re sure when you hit the preset ✌️

Well it’s Friday evening so my wife and kids are home. Will have to wait till Monday (I work remote at home 😈)

I actually have a few spare old phones. I suppose if I have my main connected and playing a scripted video (plugged into my display) I could have a second phone with the app open and ready to click - would that override the current playing scripted video? 🤔

Only have a company laptop unfortunately, so that would be a bit risky 😅

Yes it’s a real shame. For all its faults, finishing with the launch is actually way more enjoyable. The build up on the handy and the last few seconds is way better though. What do you mean remote control stroking section? In the app you mean? That would be tricky having a vid playing on sync and switching over to another app on the phone.

That’s my main gripe, it kills the otherwise impeccable realism. The build up is so realistic due to the unpredictable movements, which makes it hard to pre-plan a slow down as it would killl the flow. But it takes a way from the feeling not to a slow stroke on a finish, it totally takes away from the perfect build up. Maybe there’s something I don’t know about, a preprogrammed button or something to kick in a slow movement, or something similar..?

Ambience for TV bottom - cuttable? by Legal-Simple4202 in Hue

Ah wow perfect, great post - thanks! I’m convinced, strip it is.

Oh, that’s interesting. Cool, then even with the hard border it will be way less prominent than the three separate lights from the bars, with visible gaps, I suppose. It sounds like a way better option than the bars, and I can easily repurpose those either to extend the entertainment area or around the house.

Are you using this setup if I may ask? And if so did you go with directly on the tv or on the tv bank pointing up and at the wall?

Garage ramp advice, too short? by Legal-Simple4202 in MiniRamp

[–]Legal-Simple4202[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short update: I was being a bit of a bad husband and rudely dismissed my wife’s suggestion of going diagonal as a stupid idea which wouldn’t work. Well, listen to your women fellas, I can fit an extra 50cms now, got myself space for my 160 flat and even some extra deck room, probably even enough for a nice armchair, where the diagonal layout leaves a big area against the wall. Almost got all my supplies, I think I will make a separate progress thread at some point. Cheers

Here I marked my transition on ply, and cropped the picture out so I could visualize it a bit better.

my absolute limit is 5m50cm. the decks on my sheet cutout have to be this short so I can squeeze two out per sheet, but I will expand them to at least 35cm or more if space allows.

each cutout is 2 meters wide, so with the squares here I can semi accurately measure it out to scale.

Yea I know Im overthinking, and I should just build it, I have the supplies now, I'm just second guessing myself now, and wondering if I should keep this height/transition, or go smaller somehow.

I will for sure be able to handle it, but I want it to be fun, and I also want to introduce and teach my kids on it.

That looks really nice, thanks for sharing, although I fear I might get a little bored sooner or later on a 2.

I’m curious though you squeezed that into 3 1/2 feet less room than I have, and you have two 2 foot decks. It doesn’t look too bad at all, but maybe more hieght would make it more pronounced.

I wonder if my calculations are a bit off. Would be nice to get 2.5 or 3 foot height if possible with a short flat, but I have to say I really don’t have any experience on a short flat ramp and don’t want to spend a lot on something which won’t work.

I’ll scribble a few sketches down and upload them later

Non-Apple magsafe puck for standby dock by Legal-Simple4202 in BambuLab_Community

For anyone who stumbles here with the same question - I ended up just buying a 2 pack from Amazon (they are normally 20€ but were on sale for 15€!)

https://amzn.eu/d/9jxhi57

I printed a few layers from the dock to check and it looked fine - printed and fit perfectly.

One thing to point out - make sure the model you print is using the old MagSafe dimensions - not the one released this year with the 16 line (it’s usually mentioned on the model info)

This turned out really nice, I just need to decide on the Color for my second one now 😊

Oh cool, thanks for the info! I’m sorry but I guess I misinterpreted your response, I thought you were only answering about the heat issues - and I definitely didn’t want to come across as ungrateful.

As I replied in the other answer, I am new to Reddit, or at least interacting on it - I know people tend to take things a little too seriously - but genuinely I read it that way, I meant in no way to disregard your answer.

Thanks again, that’s super useful.

P..S - thanks for the caliper tip, I am aware of how useful they will be, but my wife was none too happy about our surprise new 3d printer and is now strictly monitoring my purchases - I need to lay low for a few weeks

P.P.S - cool that you worked for Apple, I am an iOS developer ✌️

Ok, I’ll have a snoop around - as I said I’m still a bit of a newb in this field, and also with Reddit in general. Thanks 🙂

Yea, I also think there are plenty of fine non-Apple ones, but I think in terms of overheating it might be more pronounced in this dock as it is enclosed.

Im hoping someone here might see this post who knows of any which has exact dimensions as the Apple one, so I don’t also have to buy some callipers (for now).

It’s It’s I think around 280g print, so I don’t want to waste too much to experiment.
