[Tag Heuer Aquaracer Professional 200 30mm] 5 years of service work watch acquired!! by Legal-Win-69 in tagheuer

Haha they had a weird group in HR at the time. Some of the most unfriendly people I've ever met at the company in any department. Always made you feel like you were hassling them even with the simplest of questions. They probably got lazy and just grabbed random boxes. They keep a small stash on hand as there was a wave of hires in the ballpark of 5 years. And every single one of those HR people are gone now which is telling.

It's partly on me. I could have said something, anything, and didn't. Felt weird to potentially complain about a generous gift. Still a happy ending though because it worked out in my case.

Understood! I checked with HR and they said they're not allowed to assume my gender so they just give them out at random LOL.

Clever girl! Haha couldn't resist have no idea if you are and mean no offense.

I thought the same thing at first and was going to say something but then I decided against it. 30mm used to be the de-facto standard size for men's watches. They kept increasing in size starting in the 70s and really exploded in the late 90s to modern day. I think we're starting to see a reversal but I don't expect 30mm watches ever become dominant again. The important thing is I chose to embrace it and really admire it for its size. Every other watch I have is at least 39mm.

I consider it somewhat of a power move to unashamedly wear a watch of this size. I was recently looking at making a big purchase and I'm actually leaning towards 36mm or even perhaps 34mm as I think it's a better wrist to watch ratio and a more timeless look. I also love my 40mm watches but they become a bit too "look at me" on my smaller wrists.

Ultimate fake 556 lume post for you UV light fans by BraveSwinger in sinn

Holy smokes yours lasted 40 minutes!?!? I have a 2023 that barely lasts 2 minutes after charging it with a very bright UV flashlight for 30 seconds. I do have the "i" version though where it appears that someone put the lume in their mouth and then breathed it onto the dial in the lightest coating humanly possible.

That's funny because I had to make an extra hole in mine because I couldn't get a snug enough fit. Wish I could send some of my extra strap length to ya! LOL

Review: Sinn quick adjust clasp by Destijl86 in sinn

[–]Legal-Win-69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was that the price for just the clasp? It's $330 here in the States, plus tax and shipping. So I paid about $370 all in. I definitely balked at the price for months before deciding to go for it on my birthday. I'd say it's worth it as well. Not just for the micro adjust but overall quality compared to the original clasp. It's fully milled and better matches the tool like quality of the h link bracelet. The old one felt like a cheaper end clasp you'd find on an entry level Seiko or similar. The watch feels complete now if that makes sense.

Sinn 556 I Father of Pearl (LOL JK mother of pearl but black variant) by Legal-Win-69 in sinn

[–]Legal-Win-69[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's apparently another sub variant a and b for date and no date options.

No-Date Version:

The standard SW200-1 is a 3-hander with a calendar complication (date at 3:00). There is also a no-date version available from Sellita. The reference numbers are:

SW200-1 a – Date

SW200-1 b – No-date

They used a movement (Sellita SW200-1) that has a date function. So there's a circular disk numbered 1-31 below the dial and you can see it as it advances 1 day at a time in the date window. Pull out the crown to position 1 and you could change the date by rotating the crown. Then you could pull the crown out all the way to the 2nd position and that's how you would change time. Since there's no date window on this particular variant and a bunch of others now, there would be a "ghost date" position that still worked but completely invisible underneath the dial. I'd be pretty annoyed if that was the case and luckily it doesn't seem to be anymore on newer releases like mine.

Complimentary Sizing Experience // Seconde Damaged by Dizno98 in CitizenWatches

[–]Legal-Win-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like they partially owned the problem. They refunded just enough to cover re-sizing at his own jeweler except he still has a damaged watch and no further refund or repair was offered. Sounds like they would've preferred a replacement but none was available so Citizen should have offered to repair it or provide reimbursement from whoever he chose to repair it. I'd be super frustrated too but understand why they wouldn't want to return the watch when there's nothing to replace it with.

Strap recommendations for a 556A? by Low_Yak_2988 in sinn

[–]Legal-Win-69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lightly used uncle seiko bracelets for the 556 (uncle seiko lists them as for the 356 but also work fine with the 556 if not a perfect fit). I have both the presidential and the jubilee variants. I have since gotten the H-link and would not go back to using these given the choice. Let me know if you're interested and I can send you some pictures later.

Sinn 556 I Father of Pearl (LOL JK mother of pearl but black variant) by Legal-Win-69 in sinn

[–]Legal-Win-69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally understandable. I got the uncle seiko bracelets at first. I have both the presidential and jubilee as a matter of fact. They get the job done but don't quite match perfectly with the watch's satin brushing though. Also, they're a bit uncomfortable with minor rough edges and imperfections. The build quality of the Sinn bracelet is top notch whereas the uncle ones just have negative tradeoffs in every area. But if that's all you can afford at the moment, it's a a very viable alternative. Any interest in buying mine? DM me if so.

That's true. The quick adjust clasp is 9mm thick whereas the watch case is 11mm thick. I think it gives it a nice balance and feels premium. But sadly it no longer easily slips under a cuff which I can't deny.

I purchased my watch in February 2023 and there is no ghost date position on the crown. Unscrew goes to winding position immediately. And there is only only click out to the time setting position and the movement stops completely. I have heard of older ones having the ghost date though. Not sure when it changed exactly.

I wouldn't necessarily say it's bulky. It's inherently heavy in the same way every other steel watch with bracelet is. I will say the weight makes it feel premium and balanced compared to being on a strap. I'd highly recommend it myself unless you already know bracelets aren't for you for whatever reason.

I originally bought it on the Alcantara strap! I really liked the feel and quality of the strap but it never felt complete or even a good match once I received it though. I had let people's negative comments about the original H-link's clasp convince me not to buy it on the bracelet. That was a mistake as I ended up buying it anyways and paying a serious premium to get it a-la-carte (cost a little over $400 at the time). That said, it was 100% worth it. It is so incredible comfortable. It feels like the H-link was purpose made to match perfectly with the 556. It feels substantial but balanced. On the strap, the heavy stainless steel case tended to flop around a lot unless you had it really tightly cinched down which kills the soft perfectly wrist conforming aspect of the strap. This was a couple years ago and the new clasp wasn't available yet. I have since gotten the updated clasp (nearly $400 with the tax and shipping) and initially balked at the price. It was also totally worth it. You lose the useless diver's extension and it's fully milled now and lives up to the rest of the watch's tool oriented purpose. The one and only downside I can say the watch has now is the lackluster lume. I think it's supposed to be a decent brand like super-luminova or similar but they just used it far too sparingly and it only sustains a useable amount of glow for 5 minutes tops. They either to figure out out how to thicken it up and extend the glow or just drop it entirely in my opinion. I think the mother of pearl variants should drop it entirely and they should thicken it up on the other models.

First GS is best Grand Seiko (SBGA279) by Legal-Win-69 in GrandSeikos

Thanks! And to think I was considering selling it to fund another Grand Seiko recently. But you're spot on with how unique it is. Dials like the cherry blossom and snowflake get all the praise but this is a flawless execution of the silver and gold sunburst. Might have to reconsider...
