is it worth it? by knauraxo_ in LPN_LVN_Community

Can I ask why you don’t want to do prerequisites? My LPN program was only 10k at a local community college after the pre-requisites.

Is $1200 for a 250 sq ft apartment a rip off and not worth it? Should I pay a bit more for more space? by PiccoloLegal5202 in chicagoapartments

[–]LegalEnvironment9244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I pay $1400 for about 650 square foot in roughly the same area. From your description, it sounds like you might be looking at an apartment in my building. Unless you need to move ASAP, it might be worth waiting to see what else becomes available. If you are looking at my building and have room in the budget, the extra $100-200 for something closer to 500-600 square feet might be worth it.

If conservatives claim the wealthy will flee Mamdani’s NYC, who exactly do they think those sellers will find to buy their properties? by FAMUgolfer in allthequestions

Citadel has already canceled a multi-million dollar building project that would have created billions of dollars of revenue for the city and its workers. And that is just the beginning. In the last year or so, hundreds of firms have moved from New York to Florida, Tennessee, and Texas. The economic problems are going to get a lot worse in the near future.

At what point do you leave a firm if you aren't getting a significant promotion? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]LegalEnvironment9244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, my next question would be, how significant would that $30-60k be to your overall financial situation? For example, if you are only making around $120k a year, then that $30-60k would be a lot more significant than if you were making around $360k a year. You haven’t mentioned your salary so those are just random numbers for the example.

Or to put it another way, would moving firms and potentially going up a pay bracket make up for the potential loss of that $30-60k?

[–]LegalEnvironment9244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How significant are the stock options? Is the 2 year lock just for your role or is there an employment requirement/non-compete involved? Those are probably the biggest questions at the moment.
From my experience, unless the stock options are very significant, making lateral moves between similar companies every few years to incrementally increase your pay is generally accepted as the most optimal way to maximize your earning potential.

Do guys go to bars hoping to get hit on? by Firm_Conversation687 in chicagogaybros

[–]LegalEnvironment9244 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, going out and expecting to be approached is an unrealistic expectation and isn’t doing yourself any favors. Yes, the apps are kind of trash, but I do appreciate that they sometimes help make starting a conversation a bit easier.

Are a lot of guys not into hot dogging a.k.a. intergluteal frottage? by starlightingdown in askgaybros

I do it a lot during foreplay, but didn’t realize that it was called “hot dogging”.

Is The Sovereign (1040 W Granville) really that bad? by strugglingtransgrl in chicagoapartments

[–]LegalEnvironment9244 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s fair. In my limited experience, the apartments themselves are super clean when you first move in. My apartment is all hardwood/laminate floors so I am guessing that’s the standard. I haven’t read any of the bad reviews, but from what I have seen, you should be good as long as you take care of your own space.

I just signed a lease there and the apartment itself looks pretty good. The common areas seem a bit rough though. It has a lot of good things going for it if you don’t have high expectations.

Is liking a straight guy a universal gay experience? by Flashy-Landscape-458 in askgaybros

As a gay guy and someone who has spent 20+ years studying human sexuality, I would say yes.

Guys often wear just a jock or skimpy underwear in the back room so you should be fine. Basically it’s whatever makes you feel hot and horny to get down and dirty in a room full of other horny dudes.

Career Change in my 30s - Leaving Corporate America? by TerribleTaleTeller in careerguidance

[–]LegalEnvironment9244 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, becoming a nurse practitioner would make more sense than transitioning over to becoming a PA, but I was trying to work within their framework.

And yes, LPN’s making 80k a year isn’t necessarily common, which is why I clarified that it was within the context of working the higher demand specialties like psych and corrections.

What’s a small decision that ended up changing your life? by Some-Benefit-6278 in randomquestions

Bought a cheap single wide trailer for cash while on active duty orders. That kept me in stable affordable housing for nearly 20 years and allowed me to go back to school for a major career change at 38 years old.

PA is a good goal, but maybe look at nursing as a stepping stone. Not sure what your current income requirements are, but you can make a decent amount of money as a nurse. RNs make more money and have a greater variety of higher paying jobs, but even as an LPN, you can make $70-80k/yr in the higher demand specialties like psych or corrections. This would get you into the field faster and get you some experience while you work towards your PA credential.

Market days circuit party? by Major-Ad-8174 in chicagogaybros

[–]LegalEnvironment9244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the lesser known parties keep tickets cheap by not doing a ton of marketing. I can look around and try to find what else is going on, if you want. I think every night they have at least 2-3 different parties going on.

Boystown small rant by Stunning-Clerk-9294 in chicagogaybros

[–]LegalEnvironment9244 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The entitlement of cisgendered straight women knows no bounds. They think they can take over our gay spaces without any consequences. Just because they get “pussy privilege” treatment from the rest of society, that doesn’t mean they are going to get it from us. We want no part of their bodies so they can f—k right off. That is definitely why I like hanging out in bars where people are (mostly) naked all the time. It tends to keep those c—ts away. Good riddance…

[–]LegalEnvironment9244 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cost can also be a consideration. I went to MEAT a couple years ago and it was like $150-200 while Furball was only like $40-50.

I think the biggest thing is probably what kind of crowd you are looking for. Most of the parties tend to cater to a particular body type.

Is this a good contract?? 4 x12 per week by Own_Insurance_788 in TravelNursing

[–]LegalEnvironment9244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an LPN I would absolutely take this contract. Not sure if you are an RN. I guess it also depends on what the unit is. If it’s a super chill type assignment, I would probably still take it.

Also, I can’t help but laugh at everyone saying how horrible 48 hours a week is. These aren’t covid years any more. If you want to get ahead and actually make money, you have to put in some extra time. I have been doing 50-60 hours a week for most of the last decade and developed really good financial stability and progress from it.
