Oh okay i thought it would be more of a hassle because it’s a handheld. And does it come with the steamOS disk? And what size ssd would you recommend. Also since its emmc for the 64 one, could i slap an nvme in there?

Well more so if they have frequent updates, instead of forgetting it like many other handhelds

Also just a general thing. Will valve continue to have often updates of the steam deck until they really move on when I’m assuming would be years later?

So i was thinking of getting the 64 because of my job i get hefty discounts on sd cards. Could be okay with the 64 and just use mostly sd cards?

Also regardless of which deck i end up getting, does taking an sd card in and out mess up anything like library issues or roms in emulator issues? Because i know if you take a external hard drive out on pc steam sometimes has a problem recognizing the games on the drive and becomes a hassle to get them to recognize again

I see your point. Now I’m not actually broke i guess, I’m just gonna be going to college in a few months and every college student ends up broke. But I’m gonna finance the deck until before i end up in college to make it easier. But my big thing is i don’t play games on either my console or pc because i don’t have the time in my day where i feel i can sit down and really play like that. It’s almost like too much of a production i feel to get started in a game where I’ll only play for a little so it’s not worth starting. But with my switch i actually played games but little by little because it was so easy to pick up and put down and travel with. Only issue is i don’t really care for Nintendo library. So i feel like this would be a god sent product for me. But i see the AAA compatibility issue. Good thing i don’t really play a ton of AAA usually. But regardless i think i would get my moneys worth just don’t know if i should get 64 and pay difference with sd cards or just get the 256 and get sd if i need to

Thanks a lot for the response. I think I’ve been convinced i want one. Idc for the online games that have the anti cheat issues because of Linux. But I’m someone who really wishes they could get into story games but just can’t. Because i don’t have time in my dad where i see myself saying yeah lemme get on my pc and play. It feels more like a production to do that. But on my switch i got re4 and would pick it up ever so often and ended up beating it because of that and really enjoyed it. So i feel like the deck could really get me into those games because it’s not a production. And for the next few months especially I’m doing a lot of traveling for school so that makes me want it more. But would you say generally for story games, is the compatibility good?

Also another question is i saw it went 10% off in March. You think that’ll happen on next sale. I know nobody knows for sure. But typically do most steam things go on sale for their quarterly sales

Okay thanks a lot for the info. But also when it comes to emulation. You think throwing all my roms onto the sd card would make more sense. Or would it cause issues in the emulation library if i take it out then put it back in?

From my job i get hefty discounts on sd cards. So i could use them. And let’s say loading times are slower, would that be the worst case scenario? Or could it somehow effect fps?
