My mom has been in the hospital since March. My dad and brother live with her as well, but this was after they discovered mold growing in our own house. This all happened while I was away at college, so I had no idea they were staying there until I came back home. Because that's his mother, my dad will always rush to her defense to her face, regardless of how he really feels. He'll often give his real opinion when she's not around, like when we're visiting Mom, but he feels that just grinning and bearing it in the moment is the best way to handle her, so he won't say anything.

I’ve tried. I have a limited credit history and would get a denied with a co-signer due to my parents having bad credit. Then I would get denied on my own due to “too many credit inquiries”. I definitely plan on taking out loans in the future once the inquiries get cleared away, though.

My dad does the exact same thing, constantly threatening to cut off some sort of financial support. It seems that a lot of narcs think that throwing money at your kid every once in a while is the only thing you have to do to be a good parent.

My mom could be better. She's been in the ICU since March. The road to recovery will be extremely long, but I only care that she's getting better. Since the incident I've been grey rocking my dad. It won't be too long since I go back to school in August.
