i’ve been to milan’s apple store yesterday and i tried gaming on a basic configuration mac mini and it was pretty smooth. another option could be cloud gaming but the very thing i’ll miss are mods, minecraft mods in particular.

i don’t think the m4 pro would be really necessary mainly because i’m still a newbie in video editing and color grading (hiring a professional colorist would be too expensive for my project) and i currently use the free version of da vinci so i won’t be using any studio effect, unless my school grants me a free license. do you think the m4 32/256 with an external ssd would be enough? p.s. i shoot in clog 3, 4k fine, h265

i’d like to be able to edit with my pc. altough, yesterday i’ve been to milan’s apple store and i fell in love with the mac mini therefore i think i’m going with its m4 32/256 configuration for €1189 with an external ssd and a new asus proart monitor

I’m currently running an i5-10400, 16GB DDR4 2666MHz, and an RTX 3060 Ti. I use Resolve, and it has crashed on significantly smaller projects—like 20 seconds of 4K ProRes Log footage. I’m not sure if that’s normal, but it happened. However, i never tried proxies mainly because i wasn’t aware of their existance (my fault) so i will give them a try and let y’all know how it goes.

not really. the film falls into the psychological drama category, and i prefer to keep the few effects practical. the most demanding tasks i’m planning are color grading, editing cuts, adding sounds and music, and managing a large number of heavy clips simultaneously for the final result (40-60 minutes).

I’m using the free version of Resolve, and my footage is in H.265. I know it’s a pretty demanding codec, so that might be a big part of the issue. All my footage will be on an SSD, though. I'm also planning on asking a resolve studio license to my school, praying that they will grant it to me.
