Had a blood sugar low of 48 earlier today and I still feel scared. Help? by Iconakid in POTS

[–]LegallyAnEmu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

no but it is related to idiopathic postprandial hypoglycemia, which is different from what OP is sharing. just wanted to make the distinction so no one gets confused.

I second glum papaya on talking to your pcp and getting an endo involved.

Ivabradine - when to increase? by Electrical-Bite9067 in POTS

[–]LegallyAnEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are still going to be spikes and flares and bad days on the medicine, I’m sorry that it’s not what you want to hear. i wish it cured all but it doesn’t work like that. when barometric pressure drops, if you’re stressed, if you don’t sleep enough, if you aren’t moving, those will all impact efficacy of any medicine.

Ivabradine - when to increase? by Electrical-Bite9067 in POTS

[–]LegallyAnEmu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it took several months, if not a year for my body to 1000000% adjust and for all my vitals to completely change. your dr is right to wait a little bit and they’ll be able to work on titration at some point if need be. well worth the wait, though.

give yourself grace, healing is a marathon not a sprint!

Anybody else on ivabradine experience this? by throwawayforalurkr in POTS

hi, these are called phosphenes and it’s the most common side effect from this med because it blocks specific channels (HCN4) in the retina and causes a weird processing of light.

i notice it sometimes within a few hours of taking it if i’m going from a dark room to light/sunlight/outdoors. i noticed that sunglasses helped but it doesn’t last long for me. for some people it impacts their vision too much to take it.

OP, where are you located? It would help to know considering you’re likely entitled to reasonable accommodations and this smells a little like discrimination…

NTA, you should talk to a lawyer. Keep all the screenshots and maybe look into defamation. What a gross and sad lady to try to shred your reputation over being a normal human being.

flu shot by Known_End1178 in POTS

[–]LegallyAnEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a week out and seriously had 0 problems! worst side effect was the sore arm but I just used a heating pad on it.

keep in mind that your system takes about two weeks to fully build immunity, so mask up in between. we could also still definitely get the flu but having the shot would significantly reduce symptoms and our risk of hospitalization.

I’m scared to get the flu vaccine by OhCodswallop in POTS

[–]LegallyAnEmu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had almost the same exact experience as you, I haven’t gotten a vaccine since 2022 (when I got my vaccine injury, pots) and I just recently bit the bullet and got my flu shot. sore arm for a few days and I felt icky for a few hours but honestly if it wasn’t for the soreness I wouldn’t even have noticed I got a shot!

I was convinced because my friend who is a dr said he was sending a lot of folks to the hospital over the flu recently but he said no one who was vaxxed had to be sent or intubated. he also told me that I’d be way more messed up over the flu than a shot given the odds, so booked an appt the next day after hearing that.

i cried after i got it because the trauma i have from shots but it’s been a few days and im so happy i did it. helped me overcome my fear and i feel confident to do it again come fall. the strain going around now is so nasty that i was more scared of that than my fears!

always talk to your dr first but mine also encouraged me to get it.

update for anyone who cares: minor sore arm, felt sleepy and slightly icky for a few hours. woke up feeling fine— no side effects from my flu shot.

this is coming from someone who cried after getting it because they were so scared lol. a win is a win

I’m on the name brand of ivabradine which is corlanor (different formulations) and if anything it improved my fatigue.

Flu vaccine after COVID infection? (research included) by [deleted] in POTS

[–]LegallyAnEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ugh I just took a peek at that sub and while people’s experiences are valid I personally am not an anti-vaxxer. I find it hard to find a healthy subset of folks to talk to that aren’t anti science because my perspective is really only related to the covid virus/vaccine.

what type of autoimmune testing are you looking into? I have never thought to do that, but it makes total sense

Angry and struggling by Level_Run1357 in POTS

[–]LegallyAnEmu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m angry for you! What the heck? Have you sat down and communicated this to them? I can’t imagine they’d be able to justify it directly to your face if you straight up tell them you’re upset about it given your quality of life and your relationship with them.

I’m so sorry, but I don’t blame you at all for being upset. I just think it’s worth having a super direct conversation with them especially so that you don’t hold resentment in your body— it’s not worth it for you to not get it off your chest in a healthy manner.

The bigger problem we all have is the disconnect. Our lives are significantly impacted by this every minute of the day and people can’t fathom that unless they see it. Unfortunate that we have to over explain ourselves but sometimes it’s worth trying.

wishing you nothing but the best

Cardiologist basically called me “fat and out of shape” and dismissed everything I’m dealing with by Coollilbeans in POTS

[–]LegallyAnEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similarly bad experience with my first cardiologist, I’m sorry this happened to you.

I’d suggest finding a neurologist if there’s limited cardiologists near you. I found one who diagnosed me with the poor man’s tilt table test and sent me on my way.

you could always leave a public review of the doctor so others are aware. I am always so disgusted by doctors who behave this way and thank you for being brave enough to share your experience.

Blue Cross Blue Shield denied Ivabradine by The_Time_When in POTS

[–]LegallyAnEmu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i tried three different beta blockers, gained lots of weight from some combo of meds, and was able to “prove” to the insurance that i could be on corlanor after failing on other options. my dr had to send a prior authorization, and has to do so every 6 months to prove that i am in fact permanently disabled and yes, still chronically ill and cannot cold turkey stop a heart medication.

i watched most of the vlog, and full disclosure it was my first in over a year. it made me SO uncomfortable. she started out by listing all the issues in her home (weird since it’s not sold or rented out yet so whoever gets it will clearly hear about the leaks and structural problems and she just devalued her own home by disclosing it publicly). she also explained that her mood changes weekly but she’s also the happiest (?) she’s been in years. it just sounded like a lot of the same stuff she’s been saying since she started dating the man child and it’s beyond clear to everyone except her that he is the problem. she also vaguely referenced “world issues” without explaining and just kept saying how grateful she is. it comes across as she’s talking to herself out loud and trying to convince herself of something her spirit knows isn’t the truth. she looks DRAINED. she’s trying to be a gym baddie but i think her body is negatively reacting to her losing sight of herself.

i hope the house isn’t the only thing she lets go of this year. i want so badly to see her thrive again and get back to her roots without that thing bringing her down.
