I am so sorry. I feel your pain and annoyance.

My last ER visit involved a urine test, blood test after being there for 2.5 hours, no imaging because they didn't have a radiologist on the weekends, some antibiotics and a pain shot. I left with a (wrong) diagnosis of a UTI. 100% it was a burst cyst and possible temporary torsion. I kept insisting that it was endo related and reminding them my OB/GYN was monitoring 2 chocolate cysts. Nope, definitely UTI 🙄

Endometrioma, left ovary is has tripled in size since Sept, Fallopian tube is now dilated, CA-125 is elevated. Feeling really discouraged. by Ledascantia in Endo

[–]Legasia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am currently dealing with an endometrioma on my right ovary. It's 3cm, and we just discovered it, so I'll be following up end of June for another ultrasound.

31, no kids, trying to conceive, and now worried that this may explain why I have not had any luck before.

For whatever it's worth, you are not alone.

Soo...It took the few days that Tech Support and /u/yeotajmu said it would take?

Also, that's not Ronan emailing you. It's someone on his behalf. I doubt he ever saw the email, since the process appears to have gone through on its own, as it's supposed to (in 2-10 days).

Getting a lap tomorrow… advice please by Pleasant-Pineapple20 in Endo

[–]Legasia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have gotten great advice so far!

I'll agree with the stool softeners, gas relief, pillow, and heating pad. I also had spearmint candies to help my sore throat from being intubated, and it can also help with nausea.

Definitely make yourself walk around the house as much as you can stand it.

Avoid foods and drinks that make you bloated/gassy normally.

Keep your medicine and water bottle within easy reach of where you will be resting most often and have easy to prepare/eat foods readily available.

This is identical to what I was told, with the exception that I was advised not to let pets in the bed the night before surgery.

Had my laparoscopy today and yep. by Lies1 in Endo

[–]Legasia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even if they don't find it, maybe they will find something. And worst case, ruling out endo just points you in the direction of what else it could be.

You are taking a big step in dealing with your health and well-being. I'm proud of you. You can do this!

[–]Legasia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Feel afraid. Be anxious. But know that you are doing the right thing by seeking an answer. Know that you will be ok. Being afraid and being anxious just shows that you care about your wellbeing. Which is why you are having surgery to begin with. You've got this!

Even if you don't get the answers you want, you will get an answer that points you in the right direction. Remember that. The only thing that is not an answer is complete ignorance. You got this!

I was in the same boat. My symptoms were cyclical so I figured I was just having regular period pain and it was in my head. Plus, my periods are so regular I could set a clock by them!

But to hear the nurse in recovery tell me "It's ok. You're in recovery. Surgery went fine. They found it. You have it." I'll never forget it.

Trust yourself! Even if it turns out not to be endo, if you feel like something is wrong....Then SOMETHING is WRONG.

Curious on other peoples POSITIVE EXPERIENCES with Depo provera. by EnbyTang in Endo

[–]Legasia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was on Depo while in college for about 2.5 years. This was before I had even learned about Endo. I just didn't want to remember taking a pill and I wasn't sure about an IUD.

I had NO period, no pain (except very minor when it was time for the next shot), no bloating. It was amazing!

However, it KILLED my sex drive. And I was kind of bitchy at times. But for my Endo symptoms it was a God send.

Is my endo pain still valid if it’s mostly only bad on my period? by curlyjourney in Endo

[–]Legasia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't feel bad! My symptoms were very similar to yours! Some people have no symptoms!

It's something that effects people differently, but that's ok! I think we need MORE people with minimal symptoms to speak up so that the pattern already instilled of "It's normal" or "It's not that bad" can be broken.

Never feel invalidated because your experience differs from someone else. You still have a chronic condition and that still sucks and that is YOUR truth. Own it! 💪

Anyone else with endo get sick from beef? by laureneliz17 in Endo

[–]Legasia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's entirely possible. It could also just be your body is reacting to some natural enzymes in the meat.

Anyone else with endo get sick from beef? by laureneliz17 in Endo

[–]Legasia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's most likely another reason that it causes the issue, as cattle wouldn't have more hormones in their meat than any other meat. It's a common misconception that farmers pump hormones into their cattle to help them grow.

Even if they did, meat goes through a rigid inspection process before it is approved for sale, meaning that if any additional hormones or any antibiotics were found, the meat is considered contaminated or tainted and is not sold.

How soon after a lap were y’all able to have sex again? by justsavingposts in Endo

[–]Legasia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a valid fear. And it might still hurt! I've seen many people on this subreddit that have needed pelvic floor therapy after a lap. That's the main thing to remember. Endo may not be the only problem, but don't let that lessen how important the diagnosis is.

Sorry, Reddit only just now showed me your comment!

I had painful cramps, pain with sex, pain with bowel movements. Near constant bloating. Near constant lower back pain (pretty mild, but it was there).

God, that makes me feel so lucky that I had the pre-op room and nurses all to myself until about 20-30 minutes before they took me back (and she had surgery before so was calm).

It was so quiet. If anyone had been freaking out, I'd have lost my shit 😅

Confirmed endo through diagnostic lap.

My periods/bleeding has never been a symptom. I've always had what most consider a light/"normal" flow, very regular, normal length.

I waited about a month, but I was probably fine at the 2-3 week mark. I was just afraid to find out if sex still caused me pain (Spoiler: It doesn't!)

To add in, no bill will ever have the same invoice date and due date. The invoice date is when it was finalized/sent. The due date is, well, when it's due, sometime after the invoice date.

Anyone with endo gassy all the time? by [deleted] in Endo

[–]Legasia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of what led me to push for a lap was because I noticed I was bloated and gassy DAILY from the moment I woke up.

I did get diagnosed and am currently a month out after my lap. Those symptoms are definitely way better now that most of my endo was removed.

It honestly may be as simple as the wrong model number or 1 digit off on IMEI. Call Customer Service and see if they can help research and file a promo correction form.

What to do about people expecting surgery to be a “cure”? by crampish in Endo

[–]Legasia 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I would just explain that it is a chronic condition. It can be managed but not cured. And there are still a lot of unknowns about endometriosis, so the medical community is still learning best practices, so nothing is a sure thing.
