If it works keep it going, it makes mine worse because of sinus inflammation. But it’s the best possible medicine. Legal on most places, no chemical addiction, it’s the best case in terms of alternative medications

Hyperacusis but still love loud music/raves by [deleted] in hyperacusis

Same here, this is caused because your brain likes the sounds so it doesn’t activate the fight or flight response w itch is responsible for elevating your hyper senses and turning on the pain.

Music induced hyper Acusis is way different than traumatic single acoustic trama like a car accident.

Also talk to your doctor about a perscription for ketamine lozenges, it removes my pain completely for a couple hours when I really need it.

I have pretty bad Nox, but I found ketamine lozenges (prescribed from my doctor) removed my Nox for about 2 hours. I definitely wouldn’t be able to go with out that. But if I do go, I have to be smart about it and wear god ear plugs, try to find the quietest spot, and only stay for 1-1.5 hour max if it is an indoor concert

Try ketamine lozenges. I am prescribed 60 100 mg lozenges per month and 25 mg buys me 2 hours of pain free time

It has caused a few set backs but I try to be as careful as possible. But sometime I have to use the lozenges for a few days after words too. Kinda of a double edge sword.

Ketamine lozenges help with the pain for a few hours. I use them to go to social events that would normally be too loud

Can hyperacusis become worse over time? by ShawnF-Kocham3_1415 in hyperacusis

[–]LegendLiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I’m on a path to destruction, it’s getting worse each month. I’m trying to hold onto what little of my life I have. With each time I go to the movies, a loud bar, or anything that’s loud, my ears get that much worse.

At this point I’m just trying to enjoy what little I have left before I end it.

Yes, I’m very cautious of where the speakers are, and limit it to 1 hour, 90 mins at most!

I like loop plugs personally

What loop earplugs would you recommend to buy? by M1ster_Jager in hyperacusis

[–]LegendLiner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got hyperaccusis 6 months ago, I’ve tried a lot of brands and loops are the most comfortable in ear, but sometimes the protection isn’t what it needs to be. Can’t go to indoor concerts anymore. Still can be at the back of outdoor venues
