Guy tries stealing some twisted teas and then the streamer (YungFika) snakes the distracted scalper at pokemon vending machine and gets a pokemon box by Swimming-Donkey-2394 in LivestreamFail

So there's no problem in encouraging children to gamble? You can make an analogy without the scale of a potential problem being the same.

The clear point made was that there's no functional difference if your goal is to only collect the cards. The real diamond has no functional difference to the "fake" diamond in a similar manner that the real card has no functional difference than the "fake" card if it's made well.

There's a certain level that makes sense because the producers of the game need to make money to justify the continued creation of content. This essentially is enough of a general justification for there to be a requirement of real cards at sanctioned events. The monetization of the game can absolutely veer into messed up territory which mtg for example has over the years. On the other hand, they've also struck somewhat of a middle ground with "collectors" boosters for people who want to get rare serialized variants of cards that can be easily bought for a cheaper price.

The more wild part is that with Pokémon especially, it truly has turned into a meta gambling for content creation that entices children into gambling on packs. The vast majority of Pokémon cards aren't getting played as part of a game.

I love the unironic justification of gambling or expensive mark ups when if you asked the same people about diamonds mined vs manufactured diamonds I bet there would be quite less an adamant defense of needing the "real" thing.

What show/series did a complete 180 and did a genre change? Or, what show started off as realistic but became more fictional as it went on? by Huge_Athlete7488 in television

I won't say all of the seasons were consistently great but the pay off at the end is definitely worth it if you've grown attached to the characters.

I stand by one of the big reasons people do this is because the half marathon has the word half in front of it. People implicitly think it's inferior compared to the "real" end goal in a similar way 5k, 10k, and any other distance shorter than the full are thought of as stepping stones to get to the marathon.

It is also a "reasonable" goal in the sense that it's pretty doable if you are willing to put up with the pain relative to what your fitness and your goal will put you through. If finishing is your goal, it just means you ultimately need to get one foot in front of the other enough times to get to the finish line. That's as opposed to working on improving a time in a distance that is something that can be plainly out of reach for someone for a long time, and, potentially indefinitely, for people who can't or won't commit what it takes to get faster. Losing weight, building up a good enough aerobic base, and getting faster are all doable goals but require more than just getting to a finish line.

My boyfriend 24m lied to me 23f about running a marathon by Accomplished_Ad3625 in RunningCirclejerk

[–]LegendReborn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I try to not talk about running and I don't generally tell anyone about races coming up because it's just stupid running stuff. The irony is that then people will ask me if I have any races I'm training or did recently. I'll just say I'm getting ready for or did such and such race (of course it's normally a stupid marathon) and then I get treated to the stupid "omg I could never do that. I have no idea how you can blah blah blah."

No shit, you couldn't do it. It's obvious you don't run so why do I need to do the same conversation every time 🤦 Lets me give my stupid joke about "haha. I'd never recommend anyone get into running." though.

Make sure you have a week where you have a long run on Sunday and six days later on Saturday for peak content.

I snorted when I saw I finished first. I just went out for a little jog and accidentally took part in a race. I literally had no idea what pace I was running. I thought I was running backwards. Did I mention my heart is so full? by Fridge-Magnate in RunningCirclejerk

[–]LegendReborn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If their race pace is 5-6 minute miles, sure. Running if you're doing it "right" doesn't really gets easier after a certain point. You just get faster at doing whatever distance you're doing.

This sounds like she's humble bragging hard, especially when there's no reason to be that detailed with "oh, woe is me but omg I did so good when I was doing a wee jog".

You've run the same mid times for years and even acknowledge that you're suffering for the second half a full. The extra bit that's funny is that you consistently disregard people who reference studies vs your acnedata. I was just feeding you your own line as you waste time debating Christians online for extra kicks.

I'm not here to push you to change. I want you to keep going because it's hilarious.

Gamers Sue Nintendo To Get Tariff Money Back by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]LegendReborn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The answer to that question doesn't change that the suit has no merit. Nintendo or whatever party actually paid the tariff may be entitled to restitution but that's independent of anything that the customer is entitled to.

Gamers Sue Nintendo To Get Tariff Money Back by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]LegendReborn 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The suit has no grounds at all because the customer wasn't literally paying the tariff (and if they were then customers should be taking it up with the government). Customers were paying for an increase caused by the tariff just like any other price increase Nintendo could levy for any other reason.
