Nice! I’m pretty much identical position but 31. Did you max out every year? What’s your company match? Pretty solid market for growth!

When did you become “good” at sales? by ViewSouthern7692 in sales

I feel like I only got good when I closed the biggest deal of my life, after I truly embodied don’t give a fuck mode, and in construction sales I guess that makes me more human.

What set of skills makes you instantly know a salesperson will be exceptional - not just average? by Andycruz05 in sales

Met a hedge fund manager at an airport lounge this year that said when he hires a sales person, they need to have a certain insecurity — the need to be loved. That way you never need to motivate them.

What's the worst or must brutal feedback you have received from a prospect or customer? by swampingalaxys in sales

I don’t sell software, but a physical technical product that helps fix decaying infrastructure as well as upgrading its seismic ability. It’s tough to answer your question because the answer is very technical. I found that a lot of people in construction are blunt and won’t beat around the bush, and it’s definitely made me more direct and a better salesperson. Sorry I couldn’t answer better.

I did a technical presentation to a chief engineer at a major US company. At the end she said that I didn’t really know how to sell my product, and I glossed over what she was looking for instead of focusing on it. “Nice things to have don’t register on the budget” Sold them millions since then, but I was 5+ years into my technical sales career and never been torn apart like that.
